Ok, nice enough,

but about Merging., its nice to know so people still do that.
If you use certain effects, maybe different opcaities, layer blends, layer optionings, When you merge, it will always take the characteristics of the lower merging layer so youi'll loose some of the effect you were going for and whatnot,
its just best to leave layered work layered if you've done serious blending.

easiest way to put a pic on a sig, is open the pic (this will cause you to have two PSDs open), click on your 'move' tool and just drag your picture onto your sig psd. It should transfer there.

if you need to resize it, make sure you are on your picture layer. Select a 'selecting tool' (doesnt matter which one) right click and click "transform" you will see 6 resizing dots.

click on one of the corner dots and hold SHIFT while you resize to keep it in a unifomal size so you dont distort it.

aplly your skills to the rest of it and Boom, you got a sig
