That is a good question.
It could be because everyone thinks Ichigo bleaches his hair.
It could be the blank, white expressions of the Hollows.
I think it also has something to do with the idea of spotlessness, of purity and innocence. I mean, the Hollows are the exact opposite of that, and Ichigo and his gang are fighting the Hollows; therefore, you could say that they are fighting for purity . . .
Or maybe that's just me being an English major and reading too deeply into things again.
