I dunno after seeing the new naruto episode thats out I believe that Gaara is going to still be a strong character in the anime as he is now a good friend of Naruto and they understand each other. Characters who are that close to the main character are not going to just vanish. I can see Gaara helping Naruto find Sasuke. But time will tell
