Technically the angel adam that is nailed to the cross in Terminal Dogma is already out of commission. But his DNA has been used to create Kaworu (and all of the clones of Kaworu) while Gendou's infused himself with quite a bit of it.
Depending on the media of choice (manga, tv anime, movies) and your interpretation of some of the more surreal moments: the likelyhood of "Adam"'s surivival/success varies a bit.
