lol, i was rereading all the posts and i realized i was listening to "What's up people?!"

but anyway, yes the anime is dark. thank god. Silent Reaper(of deviantart) put it best when she said "Maybe there will be a sequel called Life Note!" You want a non dark, happy go lucky, smile fest? that's the anime for you.
i'll take my dark and scary Death Note anyday. besides, when has anyone actually turned emo from that show?
