| Re: How did you get interested into your favorite music I turned on the music. And I was like "Oh wow".

Oh, elaborate? Oh okay. Well you see...
Pop was the first thing I was into. What little Filipino boy wasn't into pop to show off?
That was a given.
But that's like a kid saying "I totally got into music because of Kidz Bop! Lol!"... so don't count it for too much until later.
I was kinda' into metal... but that was just cuz of music from video games (the early years of Playstation... everything American had rock) and movies (the early years of movies... everything American had rock).
And rap and R&B, I never really appreciated 'til later.
Oh, I'm an all-music lover, btw.
But before I was that, I was a JPop fanatic. In my OtakuOtaku years, I was into everything Japanese. All kinds of music were great to me, except American music. For some reason, when you're an annoying wannabe that's an otaku that's into Jpop, you REALLY hate American music. It's just a rule of thumb.
I was introduced to it the only way Jpop otakus are ever introduced to it: People sharing the music online, talking about it in a forum, and animes.
Simple, yet effective.
As the years went by... and I got more into Japanese Culture rather than JapanOtaku, I started liking other styles of Japanese music... then I started conversing with Japanese kids and peoples who were fans of American things...
That didn't really convince me, but it did open me up a little.
Then I got with Abu Dhabi... and her love of many songs in America sparked a nostalgia in me. All these songs that she liked were either current pop or oldschool. And the oldschool nostalgia made me realize how awesome American songs were. And current pop showed me how not-so-bad current American songs are now.
After that point, I started looking into all sorts of genres... and started appreciating them for what they were.
The only thing I can't stand: Emo.
Trust me, the songs get really good, but the feel of it drives me insane! It's pathetic!
I can appreciate every message ever given in any genre!
Whether it be propaganda, or punk-rebellion, or lifeless living, or whatever!
But just.... emo........ is........... agh....... blagh.......... GWAHHH!!! Stop talking about your girlfriend who dumped you and find a new one!
... I will admit though, they do make some great songs. And it's funny how most people don't realize that what they're listening to can be more emo than emo music. |
