    Re: The Seals of Onykieto

. “They're so you can keep your love letters.” Itara answered smiling at her witty comment. “Actually, it’s a surprise!” Itara admitted, “I need you to change into those before tonight ok?”
Okysho shook his head and smiled. “Whatever you say Itara…” he breathed, “Only because you’ve done so much already ok?” Okysho hurried into a vacant restroom and changed quickly. He couldn’t figure out why she would go through all the trouble, but today he would just have to put up with Itara's stories. After all, she'd worked hard to put this together for him. He just hoped that his sister wasn’t trying to set him up with anyone.
Next, Itara took him for lunch in a semi-luxurious Chinese restaurant by the beach, overlooking the waterfront. Here Itara said that Okysho could order whatever he wanted, and that the bill was on her, however, when it came to order, Itara said she wasn’t hungry.
"Aren't you going to eat anything Itara?" asked Okysho "You paid for all this, you should enjoy some if it."
"Uh… no I calculated the cost for everything in advance... I didn't have enough to include myself into the expenses." Replied Itara, her head in her hands as she sat there watching him.
"I'll buy you something!" Okysho said, “I don't think you should have left yourself out of this Itara, you can't think about me all the time.” He waved over the waitress and ordered something off the menu for his little sister. It was at this point that Itara popped the question that she’d been waiting to ask for quite a while.
"I, uh, wanted to ask you," Started Itara hesitantly, "What's it like to be in love?"
So that’s what she’s after…Okysho thought, of course he didn't really know the answer to this question, but he decided to try just to humour Itara. "Well… uh…" He stuttered, looking for a valid answer that his sister would accept. "It's kind of complicated to explain."
"That's ok. You don't hafta answer right now." Itara said a little disappointed. “I just was wondering, that's all”
After all the trouble Itara went through for him, Okysho figured that his best guess about what he thought love was like, would have to suffice. Unfortunately, the only thing he knew about that was slightly related to love, was sex.
“Um… well… Itara… When you get really, really close to someone that’s… attractive… you-”
“You don’t really know do you?” Itara asked, her head sinking into her hands, disappointed, “It’s ok… I didn’t really think so…”
Okysho ruffled Itara’s hair, “Well when I do find out, you’ll be the first to know, how’s that?” He smiled. Itara smiled too, then nodded her approval.
From there, Itara and Okysho went to the movies and saw 'My Artistic Endeavour', a love story about a young artist and a musician who fall in love but complications arise and a love triangle is formed with another character, then a big fight scene as the plot reaches climax and the musician disparately tries to win back the love of his life. In which the main character ends up dying. Okysho didn’t particularly enjoy the film, but it’s the thought that his little sister would spend so much money on him for nothing, that made it seem better than it actually was.
Once the movie was done, it was early in the evening, most shops and such were closed at this time of day since it was Saturday, but Itara still had one more thing planned for her big brother.
"Well I guess we should just head home then?" asked Okysho feeling just a little tired himself.
"Nope! We've still got one more spot to go to then we're done." Itara still had the same amount of enthusiasm as she did this morning. She took ahold of his arm and began to drag him through the streets once more.
Doesn't she ever get tired? Thought Okysho to himself as he hobbled his way through the plazas of the city, led by his tiny sister.
Their last stop was back towards the waterfront. Okysho’s favourite band ‘S’ squared, was holding a concert at the lakeside bandshell tonight, but Okysho could never have worked up the cash to afford tickets. He was sure Itara couildn’t afford tickets either, even if she had saved up for two wholey ears. She led them to the top of a nearby hill shaded by two large oak trees, overlooking the small inlet where the bandshell was stationed.
“Wow Itara! This spot is perfect!” Okysho, hopped up into one of the trees and peered out over the beach towards the bandshell. He could still see the stage from where he was stationed. If he’d had binoculars Okysho swore he would have been able to see the band’s faces. He could also make out the cheers of the crowd as the anticipation for the band’s appearance was building.
“Get down here!” Itara commanded, “That’s not all that’s coming!”
Okysho immediately dropped from the tree onto the ground, “What else could there be Itara? This really has been the perfect day! I didn’t even need to turn on a game console!”
“Is that all you ever think about, is video games?” A rather distinguishable voice came from behind him.
“Boys will be boys…” said another, very recognizable voice.
Okysho turned around and looked up at his best friends. “You are a boy too Ken! Unless you’ve forgotten!” Ruriko snapped, “Hey Okysho!” She smiled.
Okysho gave his sister a big hug and kissed her chek lightly, “Thanks Itara…” Itara simply smiled. “I guess your back isn’t broken eh Ken?” Okysho laughed.
“Hey quiet down!” Ruriko hushed, “The concert is gonna start!”
The four of them sat down together on the grassy hill and strained their eyes over towards the bandshell. Both Ruriko and Itara laid themselves on Okysho. Ken sat up in the tree, watching.
The lights dimmed and a voice boomed from over the speakers that surrounded the theatre, their volume so loud that Okysho and the others could all her from so far away. “Ladies and Gentlemen! Are you ready for S Squared?” The crowd cheered as the announcer proceeded to hype out the crowd some more. “And now, the lake-front theatre is pleased present to you, the stars of tonight’s main attraction, please put your hands together for S Squared!” The band rose up from a trapdoor on the stage. There were two guitarists and a drummer. The band members had their own special colour. The Guitarist on stage right wore cool blue T-shirt and was bathed in a blue spotlight. The guitarist on the left wore a black leather jacket and was flooded with a red spotlight and finally the drummer was in a wild green and hit with a green spotlight.
As the concert progressed, the lead guitarists took turns singing and playing sweet rock solos on their dual-necked guitars. The concert was the best and only one Okysho had ever been to, even though he was technically watching from afar and not even part of the real crowd. Even at a distance, the band’s live performance wowed the children they played all their hit songs on their latest C-D and their biggest hits including 'Live and Learn', their number one hit.

    Re: The Seals of Onykieto

The four children cheered at the top of their lungs at their favourite songs, even though they were quite a distance away from the bandshell, but unfortunately, the concert did eventually come to an end, and Okysho soon found himself saying goodbye to his best friends as they all headed their separate ways homeward bound.
Okysho and Itara had wandered back across the city, finally on their way home after such a busy, but fun-filled day.
“That was so cool!” Okysho shouted into the pleasantly cool air. “I've never had so much fun in my life!”
“I'm glad you had fun big brother.” Itara smiled, “I had fun too!”
Okysho ruffled his sister's hair again. “Thanks a lot Itara, that was a lot better than hanging around at home with a game controller in my hand.” Okysho's imagination wandered to what would have happened if he had sat around playing video games all day. The cheap music played in his head followed by a yell, then a deep voice saying, “Game over.” and repeated several times.
Itara shook his arm and brought Okysho back into reality. “Brother look over there!”
Okysho's eyes followed Itara's hand. She was pointing in the direction of the city square. Smoke and a dim orange light rose above the city.
"It looks like trouble!" asked Okysho alarmed. "Let's check it out Itara!"
    "Alright Okysho!"
Okysho and Itara broke out into a run as they headed towards the square. They reached their destination and looked around. Their once beautiful town square was now a wreck. The office buildings and stores lining the streets in the area were wrecked and burning, the pavement cracked, bits of cement strewn everywhere. On the far side of the square, police and authorities had arrived to determine what happened. Okysho looked around more for signs of a cause.
There among the wrecked skyscrapers and broken roads was a large dark brown figure. It had one huge arm with a three fingered claw as the monster stomped towards the group of police who began shooting at first sight from the ground with their pistols. The creature leapt from it's position and lunged at the city officials. With its sharp claw, it swiped at the police, killing them all in one fell swoop. The dark figure stopped across from Okysho, content with it's freshly spilled blood, but was unsatisfied. It smelled more and turned around slowly, staring at Okysho with wild eyes. It suddenly leapt at Okysho with it's full speed. Okysho could barely see, but caught a glimpse of the creature's glinting claw as it struck at Okysho. He'd managed to lean back far enough to evade the first blow, but the creature's second strike would hit him for sure, but instead of striking at Okysho, the creature's second attack was at Itara, who was shaking behind Okysho the whole time, frightened. A flash of red as Itara's shoulders were slashed with three sharp claws. Itara screamed and dropped to her knees as the creature retreated at a fast pace back to a safe distance.
“Are you alright Itara!” Okysho bent down and covered his sister.
Itara nodded even though tears had formed in her eyess, and had her hand over her fresh woumd. It was burning with pain.
Okysho stood up and blocked his sister from view of their attacker, stepping in front of Itara with his arms out. “Leave her alone!” He called out, but there was no response, only a long pause at which Okysho and the creature stared at each other. The creature made the first move and leaped forward with great speed and agility, bearing it's claws at Okysho as if to strike. Okysho kept his eyes focused on the creature, thinking only of protectin his sister. As the creature drew closer with every small second that passed, a quick flash of a memory in his mind, a cold blade ripping through human flash, then it was gone. Instantly a feeling of fear gripped Okysho, fear of pain and death. He clenched his eyes shut and braced himself for some sort of impact and the sharp pierce of claws through his flesh, like his memory, the pain seeing through his body, the hot blood dripping onto the pavement, but it never came. The creature had leaped passed Okysho and seized Itara, then jumped onto a falling balcony and scampering upwards to the roof of the skyscraper. He squeezed his fist with Itara in his grip, his claws digging into her arms. Itara screamed then fell unconscious.
A strong rage began to grow inside Okysho. The urge to protect Itara, to save his little sister, the only family he had left with him. Without any doubts or second thoughts, he tore off his brand new jacket, entered the crumbling building and dashed up the flights of stairs after the creature. He finally reached the roof, where his sister was being held captive. Okysho found himself out of breath, but tried to gather his thoughts about how he might now rescue his sister, but there was no time to think. As Okysho burst through the door to the rooftop, the creature dove at Okysho swinging its claw at him. Okysho managed to deflect the blow with his hand, but he couldn't keep up the act for long. The creature swung for his neck. Okysho dodged the attack, but just barely and was knocked to the ground. A sharp pain instantly burst in his chest as three small cuts spewed blood from Okysho’s chest. The creature had ripped Okysho’s new T-shirt open and landed a small blow. Okysho put his hand to his chest to check the damage, it was minimal, and wasn’t bleeding badly, he had been lucky, however it was then, he’d noticed something missing … The pendant! Okysho’s chain had fallen to the ground with a soft thump a few meters away from where Okysho had been thrown. He dove for it, ending in a summersault. He quickly thrust the ring into the pendant. There was a bright flash of light and the sword revealed itself. Okysho drew the sword and lifted it high, dropping the sheath on the ground with a clatter. The yellow jewels seemed to glow on their own accord. The spikes from the hilt glistened in the firelight. He spun the sword in his right hand for a few seconds and gathered what little he remembered. This is where it all pays off. He thought.
Okysho closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Okysho lunged at the creature and slashed with his sword. There was a small flash and spurt of blood. Okysho landed himself on the opposite side of the roof. He looked around him to where he had been hit, but found nothing. Okysho looked behind him to see if he had managed to hit the creature, as luck would have it, he managed to cut the creature's shoulder. He didn’t even feel the blade slice through him, or even make contact with anything, but the gash on the creature’s arm was real, as was the small bloodstain on Okysho’s sword as well as a few sprinkles on his face.
The creature made no acknowledgement to it's wound as it's blood dripped down onto the concrete floor. It looked at it's wound and smirked before mockingly waving Itara at Okysho.
Okysho filled with rage at the creature's taunts. He gave a loud cry just before lunging at the creature again. This time instead of striking, the creature held Itara in front of him to block Okysho's attack. Okysho hesitated, lowering his sword as he passed the by the creature again, but as he lowered his sword to avoid hitting his little sister, the creature scratched Okysho's left arm. Three sharp claws pierced deep into his left shoulder. Moments later, the creature wrenched his claws out of Okysho and leapt away to a safer distance once more. Okysho yelled in agony as he fell to his knees.
"Damn you! Let my sister go!" Okysho yelled at the creature at the top of his lungs as he held his shoulder and stood up. The creature gave a loud screech as if to laugh at Okysho's pathetic position on the ground before lunging at Okysho once more. Okysho staggered to his feet and thrust his sword hard while trying to maintain as much control as he could at the same time in order to stop himself from losing his balance. Maneuvering to the best of his ability, Okysho managed to make his blade evade his sister and hit its mark, the blade sliding crude and roughly into the creature’s flesh before Okysho quickly yanked it out, the feeling of the blade piercing the creature’s flesh, along with the splatter of blood made Okysho shiver. His shot had been lucky. Okysho had managed to stab the creature, making a deep gash into the creatures left arm. No longer able to retain its grip, the creature dropped Itara onto the hard pavement. There was blood dripping from Itara's shoulders from where she was slashed and the recent holes from the creature’s claws were also bleeding badly. Okysho, now even angrier then before at seeing his bloody sister, dove at the creature again giving a loud cry. The creature swung at him with its right, but Okysho thrust his sword in front of him, blocking the attack with his sword, knocking the creature off balance. It stumbled stumbled backwards, and Okysho saw a perfect opening, as rage took over, Okysho delivered a pierce punch to the creature’s face, throwing it to the ground. Instantly he mounted the creature and began to repeatedly punch it’s face, grunting and growling with each strike. Finishing with hisblunt strikes, Okysho grabbed the creature by the neck and lifted it to its feet. The sight of the monster that had tried to kill both him and his sister disgusted him. Okysho’s eyes flashed as he gave another loud battle cry and thrust the sword though the creature's heart. The blade carving through the creature’s skin, muscle and flesh like cutting through a raw steak. It burst out the creature's back, splattering blood all over the rooftop.

    Re: The Seals of Onykieto

It all happened so fast in Okysho's eyes, the screech of the creature, the cold blood spilling on his hands, the red stained sword gleaming in the light of the night. The creature fell to the ground then slowly turned to a thick black sludge. Okysho picked up the sheath and slowly slid the blade into it. He stared into the blackness of the night.
It was just then that Okysho’s senses returned to normal. His hands began to shake and he dropped his sword immediately. It clattered inside the sheath on the concrete rooftop. Okysho looked down at his hands, they were covered in blood. He looked from the black pool of sludge, to his hands, to his sword, then to his hands again. Instantly he sank to his knees.
“N-no…” he breathed, his voice as shakey as his hands. “I didn’t… I couldn’t have… I’m just not…” his breathing began to stagger, he took quick, short breaths, trying desperately to convince himself that he hadn’t just killed a monster, but with the proof right in front of him, he knew he couldn’t lie to himself about something so obvious. “Noooooooo!!” he cried desperately into the night, before slumping backwards as the fatigue from the battle finally caught up with him.
His vision began to blur and his eyes starting to droop, the fuzzy figure of his sister, still unconscious on the ground in front of him. Okysho struggled to his feet and stumbled over to his sister. He shook her fiercely. She did not wake. He checked her pulse, it was weak. She was still breathing, but very lightly.
"Itara!" he shouted "Itara! Come on wake up Itara!!" She didn’t stir an inch. Okysho muttered, “Gotta get her down…” He lifted Itara onto his back and hobbled over to the doorway to the stairs. After a few flights down, Okysho felt the ground shake beneath him.
“S-shit…” he muttered, “Not now…” Weary and fading fast, Okysho mustered up all of his energy and burst out into a run as debris began to fall all around him, whether it was an earthquake or whether the building itself was falling down, Okysho didn’t know, nor did he care, his sister was in bad shape and neither of them were safe in that building.
A chunk of ceiling from above, nearly bashed Okysho’s head. He began to push himself harder, knowing full well that his body was well reaching his limits as pain seered through his whole body. The staircases began to crumble as he ran. Okysho was forced to take leaps and bounds, desperately trying to keep his sister from falling off him, while still keeping himself from falling to his own death.
At long last Okysho reached the ground floor lobby. The door of the building had been blocked off, though the giant lobby windows were still intact, his only way out. He shuffled Itara off his back and into his arms and covered her face. He took a deep breath, but the falling electrical wires from above managed to steal what time he had left to prepare himself. Mustering up any and every ounce of courage and energy he had left, Okysho burst through the glass pane, showing shards of glass everywhere and dashed out into the broken street. Outside, an ambulance had joined the other authorities who tried to figure out what happened. Okysho hurried up to it before taking one last look at the building. It had stopped rumbing and shaking. The building held itself intact.
The authorities were all over Okysho, but he did his best to push them aside and grabbed the nearest paramedic. "Please! You have to help my sister!" He begged.
"What the hell were you doing in there kid? This girl is in terrible shape!" the paramedic immediately took Itara from Okysho and loaded her into the ambulance among several police officers. "You’re lucky you made it out in your state kid. Don’t worry about your sister, she'll be fine from here on in."
"T-thank you." He panted, "She's pretty much all I have left. Please let me ride with her."
"Not a chance kid!" The paramedic put his hand on Okysho's wounded shoulder and examined it, dabbing it occasionally with a cotton swab. "You should be in an ambulance yourself. We’ve got another vehicle on the way over here. You’ll have to wait around until it gets here.”
Okysho flinched from the pain of his wound as the paramedic touched it. "I don't care what happens to me right now. Just as long as she's…" Okysho’s vision began to blur again and he began to sway. The fatigue had finally caught up to him. Okysho made no hesitation and submitted immediately as darkness overcame him and he passed out from his wounds before he could even finish his sentence.

“Noo!” Okysho shot bolt upright, panting and drenched in sweat. He stared out into the darkness of the room. He was in the hospital. He calmed himself down. A nurse came bolting into the room. She immediately flew to Okysho’s side. “What’s the matter? Did something happen?” Her soft voice soothed Okysho a little bit more.
“N-no…” Okysho muttered, “Just a nightmare I guess…” He looked around, “This… is a hospital right?” He asked suddenly, “Where is my sister?” The nurse nodded to the other side of the room. There was a small pile of blankets and linens on another bed. Okysho could just barly see a small tuff of black hair sticking out from the pile.
Itara was sleeping there on the bed. There was a tube going into her arm, inserting blood. He looked around the small room, just a regular hospital. Okysho’s new leather jacket, covered in dust was hanging next to him on the coat hanger by the bed.
He was just a bit astonished that it’d found it’s way back to him. He reached out for it, but the nurse kept him down.
"You need to rest right now." The nurse quietly whispered, "Those wounds ought to be better by tomorrow..."
"H-how is she?" Okysho asked. He was slowly beginning to dose off again.
"She'll be fine." replied the nurse with a smile. "She just needs rest. You should be sleeping too." She laid Okysho back down and left.
Okysho couldn't quite bring himself to sleep though, caught between his racing mind and his tired body. Okysho still couldn’t stomach the fact that he had to kill for the first time in his life. He’d hoped that he would never have to be forced to kill in his entire lifetime. It was much too late at this point. The visions of his blood soaked hands still haunted him, even his mind began to shut down until he at long last fell asleep, while screams and blood filling his dreams.
