Journey's End {Day's End}

Avoidance is critical to me.
It helps give me the strength I need to get through the day.
At least that’s the way I choose to see it.

I try to awake early to avoid the alarm.
I get out of bed and walk across the floor,
trying and hoping to avoid making a sound or creating a problem as I begin my day.

I try to avoid thinking as ridiculous as it sounds.
If I can stop my thoughts my weaknesses won't show.
I can avoid thinking about what I am, who I am, and where I am.
If I allow these thoughts, I feel as if I'm swallowed whole.

I keep my head down when a task is at hand, to avoid distraction.
Truly it’s to avoid interaction.
Each day I do these things never changing, my memories blur into one.

Eventually I take notice that I'm all alone.
Nothing distracting in my mind, I've avoided long enough this day.
That part of my body has given up.
I can begin to relax no longer on guard.

Is fear why I avoid?
I don't think so, its just who I am.
So with the only light the glow of my clock,
I close my eyes and sigh, for I have avoided another day of living.
This day’s journey's ended.

Yanno... I really like this poem. I identify with the....avoiding thought thing. The numbness is starting to set in for me and I find it rather comforting. Part of me still finds that really sad. So, this poem touched a soft spot with me. Very well written.

Generally speaking its a really good poem, but what i don't get is why would try to avoid things in life if you're living it every day. It's sound like you're in your own little world doing what you're suppose to do on your day to day life while at the same time, avoiding and (sounds like) ignoring the outside world. Just so nobody can see the true feelings you have inside.
its kinda like me in sense, except when somebody does something that i dont like, i tell them know how i feel,and having no regrets i hold nothing back.

Thats kind of (to me) boring.To me poems are just like stories that are supposed to have i dont know action........... oh well dont mind me im really dumb in that sort of thing you know judging..........but wonderful,
i loved the whole idea.its a great poem.
