Writer's Block
Crows
Angel
Thanks once again to everyone that's voted, and bigger thanks to those who commented and voted. But there is one more day left in the contest, lets get some more votes people. Don't be fooled, I'm not saying that because I'm losing in the contest. XD It would be great to see some more votes from members.
I BELONG TO AN ANGEL NOW!
I'll start a thread in the cyber lounge complaining about how we don't appreciate our judges enough and then reference it here and see how that works... although I think it's going to be closed here soon is it not?
... and join my rebellion against time.
A big congrads to gren for the win!
Overall I think it was a decent turn out, you have to remember we don't have thousands of poem readers here on AO...we are an anime site and not a poem site after all.
Now as far as my poem...well I hated it, lol. Seriously I had no mojo, no inspiration and my muse had totally just left me right there where I stated I was in my poem. I just have been totally uninspired lately and I wrote that poem out of shear frustration for how I was (and still am) feeling. The meter is obviously a little off in spots and I would have liked to used better imagery. Not to mention I really wanted by writing that poem to end it with me being victorious over the wall but in the end...I couldn't finish it other then say I hope I can overcome it.
Anyway compared to gren and mech's poems I have no idea why anyone voted for me...I mean come on here people, their poems are just so good!
Life and Death are always one and the sameEVEN IF A RAINBOW IS BROKEN THERE'S STILL THE SKY
I have to say I'm surprised...I entered "Crows" because I loved the way it turned out, but I didn't think it was winning material. It's just as Corvus described it, disturbing, but that was the intended effect. The whole thing was born from the last line, and spun into an image that I got from it, and that's really all this one is...an image poem, a sort of painting with words that simply tries to get the reader to see what I see in my head as I write. The fun thing about it all was that I wrote it in a kind of semi-conscious state, just letting the words come without really thinking about them; I find that those are the poems that turn out the best.
Enough of my rambling though, thank you to everyone who voted and even bigger thank yous to everyone who took the time to comment. Chief and Mecha, it was a pleasure and a great time competing with such skilled writers, I enjoyed both of your works immensely.
