Remembrance (childhood wishes)

Christmas has always been, all white and snow,
The excitement of knowing
what my present is and who it is from.
Memories that have been of being happy and fun.

It makes me want to walk up to my tree
Then i'll wish on that special star.
It reminds me of secret wishes,
And makes me work harder all through the year.

It brought my family round singing silly songs,
children can laugh and play all night long.
It was a time when everyone was together,
No matter if they were naughty or nice.

I have often been told I was more naughty than nice
Evryone said nice girls can have their wishes come true.
All i have in my heart was to be with you,
Yet in the smallest rooms of my heart my wish still burns.

Even now that i am all grown up,
I try to be as fair as i can.
Still wishing that Christmas came more often.
Maybe if maybe by some weird accident.

And i know and feel it's just wishful thinking.
Maybe if christmas came again
Like the twelve months of the year,
Maybe just maybe , when this wish comes true
Finally I can be with you.

*sniff* beautiful. The idea of christmas being more than just presents and egg nog i find is rarely looked upon, haha. And i also like how the thing the character was remembering was one specific aspect of the time, not just the time in general

This didn't strike me as a memory of Christmas per say. I took it more to be about wishes coming true. You were remembering that "Christmas" feeling... Of getting what you wish for. As if you were thinking back to a time where being "nice", and working hard to be fair and righteous.... Meant that your hearts desire would be under your tree.

That was a very excellent poem. A poem is a wish that is full of heart and soul as Christmas is full of spirit and heart and heartwarmin feelings! Yeah now I cant wait for xmas!

this poem sort of makes me feel fuzzy inside ,it made me smile as well
that in itself is rare since im all about writing about life and the like but
this poem really is great , i rememberd a lot of stuff i wished for this poem
really brought back some memories for me thank you.

I have to admit, that's a good poem, all the poems I write are usualy depressing in someways. Good job. :smile:
