It's because Defend immediately adds 60 defense to you at level 1, whereas defend magic (magic shield) only adds 10, has a max level of 10, and only adds 5 more MDEF per level for a maximum amount of 60MDef. One is a spell, and the other is supposed to be more of a game mechanic (a command). Kinda like how you get more powerful spells in games like Final Fantasy, but you don't get a more powerful form of the "Defend" command on the action menu. (Attack, Spells, Flee, Defend)

at this moment i am training my magics. i go through alot of potions, because i have to heal both my mp as well as my pet. as pets cannot learn defend, using magic is the only option to not damage the enemy.
and also i have been having a problem lately going into my house. i keep getting an internet error.
Pets should be able to learn defend now, as for your house, it has to be something on your side of things because there have been absolutely no changes to anything since you were given the house.

well i hope it will be fixed soon. but now that i think about it, i changed my name after i got it,( changed it backed after) and since then i haven't been able to get inside. i think that may have caused me the problem.
Name doesn't have anything to do with how the area works. It only checks to see if you have the "house key" item (which you do, I checked) and if you have it then it grants you access to the house. No other factors go into it other than that.
well, ok then. then i wonder what's wrong. maybe its my computer. got any suggestions trunks on how to fix it? it keeps saying the website cannot display page. ill try logging on somewhere else.
Try clearing your browser cache and then trying again.
