Brushes?

Start GIMP again and open the brushes dialogue. Maximise it so you could see properly. Then go wild with using them ^_^ It takes time and practice.
For colours, go to Tools->Colour Tools->Colourize or Colour Balance.

Im guessing u mean picking the brushes am i right ??? u can pick the ones u want to down load ont the link i gave u up a few posts and pick the oness u want download them and folow the steps Rave posted.

example an tri-loop
- just start out with a transparent background
- create three circles (different sizes your pick)
- combined them to one to have three whole circles
- design them in your own fashion
- make sure you still have your transparent background
- last click script-fu>selection>to brush

and now you have your own created brush

ohh ok i geuss i can make my own but like i tried deviantart and i'm now unsure about where i download new brushes
