    Finding New Art

Hi all great anime, manga-and yes even you henti fans- im looking for some specific artistic work. I have been looking all over for the best drawings i could find - so i can draw them- below is a list of what is needed of what i will take. im only asking for this so if you don't want to do it or you do and just want it to be more priviate then mail me.

-must be a full body picture
    -must have details
-must look decent-can't look like my 3 year old cousin's art work -
-must have a signature, be published or copyrighted by a company or person.
-can't be to sexual, don't be afraid to show a little but please don't get incredibly graphic. -don't want to half to explain to my mother why im bring porn home from school -
-finaly, make sure that they aren't like super hard -made from a cpu- stuff like that, im just starting out so i need some kinda easy ones but i would like a hard one here and there.

when i get done drawings a few pics, of course I'll throw them either on this thread or a new one to show how good im doing so far. just like a said though I have only just started drawing anime and manga. and for anyone who asks, yes im 18 years old. my b-day is actualy coming soon on the 26th of this month

Why don't you try drawing from actual people? That's what I do when creating new characters. I'm also in a life drawing class and it helps to better understand how to draw comic/manga style people when you draw actual people. You'll have a better understanding of the body that way.

I would suggest drawing people you see in every day life or find some really awesome cosplay pics and use them for a decent reference for drawing poses, characters and clothing. Otherwise, you can always check out the gallery here. ^_^

Personally I recommend "The Big Book of Manga"

Amazon Line - The Big Book of Manga

480 pages of manga style drawings with instructions on how to achieve the images shown. Otherwise why ask for images from people? Use google and look for well know artists. Asking for members drawings sounds kinda shady.

    Re: Finding New Art

well, i have looked all over the internet -including google, ask, bing, many anime sites (including the gallery here) and i have yet to find a profesionaly done artwork; in pencil; that i would be able to draw. i have drawn real life people that i see, but the styles im using to draw the real life people and the anime are different. trying to use the same style just didn't seem to cut it for me. so i decided to ask around to see if anyone could find better artwork than i could. most of the artwork i get is pretty good just look like my 10 year old cousin drew them and thats not what im wanting, im wanting almost professional works.

I have to agree about asking members drawings. It's just kinda fishy.
At any rate. I have tons of manga drawing books that I use for reference on occasion. They're really good. You should check them out. Especially any of the "How to Draw Manga" series. They're all done by a team of Japanese Manga artists. Really good reference material. Christopher Hart has a few good books too.

You won't find much professional work in just pencil sketch form these days. Not many people will post works in progress unless it's taken with their webcam or in digital form (IE: Photoshop, Illustrator). At least that's been my experience from following a lot of artists on Tumblr and looking at talented artists on DeviantArt. I strongly suggest you try drawing anime/manga characters from the ground up, just like you would do life drawing (real people). The concept is no different. You do a few gesture drawings to get the right body proportions and poses and then you can work on the facial and clothing details afterward. Practice makes perfect and using someone else's artwork will only give you room for so much improvement (which isn't much room at all).

I suggest you look to other artists for inspiration, not for recreating their work. If you're serious about wanting to be better as an illustrator, then you should try to create your own work more than you try to recreate someone else's. Not saying that you shouldn't from time to time. That's all I did as a kid but, after a while, you're gonna want to improve and you can only do that by drawing from your own mind's eye.
