GIMP was originally designed for Linux, and since OSX uses a UNIX based OS, porting Linux programs to the mac is easy.
And GIMP for OSX has been around for ages.
Anybody here have a Mac and can't afford Photoshop? Well, you're in luck because I recently discovered (upon the purchase of my new MacBook) that there IS a Mac version of Gimp and it's no different from PC. Really, it's not. It's the same exact program, has the same menu bar up top and everything. It's like someone just used a PC tools converter and hooked it up. All the PC commands are the same but the hot keys don't work, at least I don't think they do. I've tried. You need X11 if you want to run it on your Mac though (Throwin' out the caution flag there.)
Anybody use Mac computers? If so, do you use Gimp? What do you think of it? I love it! I loved it on PC too! I still want photoshop at some point but I think my school will pay for that. Yay for pursuing a degree in graphic design! ^_^
Until then, Gimp is where it's at!

Ya learn somethin' new every day.
I didnt' know any of that information. I always knew it was available for PC but I've owned PCs for years. I only used Apple computers in school (mainly when I was in my graphic design and computer animation courses in high school). Even then, we had only used Photoshop and Macromedia Plus (which evolved in to Flash).
Thanks for the tidbit of info, Aceman! ^_^
