Inkscape

So, I may seem like I'm behind on the times when I bring this up but, I just stumbled upon Inkscape while looking up some new techniques to use with GIMP.

I'm considering downloading it. It seems like a pretty cool program; similar to Illustrator or CorelDraw. Has anybody used this program before? Is it worth the space it'll use on my hard drive (which isn't really much, LOL)? I seen some screenshots of what it can do and I'm really inerested. Also, if anybody does have experience using this program, are there any tips you can offer about using it?

I've been using Ink scape to do a bit of vectoring and I'm finding it great for what I do. I haven't explored it that much though, I only use it for vectoring at the moment. And I don't know how it would compare to illustrator or corelDraw (used neither).

I would recommend it, but just give it a go I guess and see if it does what you want it to do.

As for tips? Practice and experiment? it took me ages to get used to it, and I got frustrated often due to my lack of knowledge of what buttons did what LOL

I still haven't played with it yet. I keep forgetting I have it. I did, however, play around on Illustrator the other day so, I'm gonna mess with Inkscape for a bit today.

Played around with Illustrator for a bit too. Its a fantastic program, made me see the capabilities (or lack of) with inkscape. It just seems easier and has more tools than inkscape, unless I haven't explored inkscape enough. But I guess for a free program, Inkscape does pretty well

I caved in and got Illustrator a day or two after I got Photoshop CS5. I must say, it's pretty awesome in comparison to Inkscape. ^_^

Now, I just need a graphics tablet.
