It's better indeed but I wouldn't use a red background if the images in the foreground are red/reddish brown as well.

well i hear alot of people say that you should use colors corresponding to your foreground image, and alot say you shouldnt. what colors would you suggest for this one?

Most people seem to use one standard font for the text.

Example I just googled:




When I google Mario userbars I get:




See how the logos and text usually stand out from the background? Because userbars are pretty tiny you need something with impact.
