Careful with the talk of anime on youtube... technically the entire Gundam Franchise is liscenced in R1 by Bandai (thanks to their having exclusive rights on SUNRISE and any products the studio spawns while handling their own international branch).

And reguardless of liscencing: the show is not being distributed legally on Youtube (or any other site) with permission from SUNRISE. Talking ABOUT it is fine... talking about where to get it is likely to fall under the rules reguarding illegal material.

yeah, that was actually a prelude to a question. i heard they where taking all the anime stuff off youtube for on reason or another. thought it had to do with liscencing. thats the reason why the awesome Gundam EVOLVE episodes where gone one day.

Youtube isn't a reliable source like it used to be in the past man.

According to animenewsnetwork Gundam 00 is not licensed yet, so it is not illegal to watch it for the time being. Unless, whoever gets the license announces that the show is being dubbed then one should stop downloading and distributing the show.

I've watched the first episode this week. What can I say: it was quite good. A nice start, not too much information given and just enough action to keep you interested from the start.
However, I'll reserve judgement on the series until I've seen episode 10, cause by this point we should have a good idea anout the show.

good point. like i said, SEED kinda started out real nice, then we get episodes of flay sex... WE WANT GUNDAM EXPLOSIONS, NOT HENTAI! (well, at least not in a gundam series)

Reality check: in spite of liscencing to DISTRIBUTE material in the United States, International copyright law protects ALL material, anywhere in the world from distribution without permission or restitution to/from their creators. ALL fansubs and raws are illegal. Without exception, liscenced or not.

On youtube, a site that is popular in Japan: hosting a currently popular series is a phenomenally rotten idea. The videos won't last. SUNRISE will have them taken down.

BANDAI (SUNRISE) also controls it's own international distribution branch. Therefore they almost NEVER actually liscence anything. They don't have to. They already own the rights. They merely announce the titles they are going to distribute. "Liscencing", to anime news network, means the announcement of aquistion of rights for the US market or intent to distribute those properties. Until there is an announcement, they can't promise a US release: so the title won't be listed as "liscenced".

Naturally, fansubbers and fans of fansubs would like the series to exist in the "moral grey area" of "unliscenced" for as long as possible: but the reality is ~ The grey area for BANDAI (and media works) titles is actually quite a bit smaller than with others.

Further complicating Youtube: the people posting the videos there don't have permission from the FANSUBBERS either (nor do they tend to credit them). Watching anime on youtube is sort of like buying Chinese artbook rips printed on napkins: no one benefits (including you, the quality's crap).

Those looking for fansubs and approving of them know where to find them. I sugguest everyone take a few steps back when discussing sources: that's all.

In April-May, all the god damn anime companies suied youtube and completely crippled the site of its anime allowance. The then new youtube chat streams (of which I always used to hang out at) having to do with Anime were all deleted.

Since they had a pretty bug community, it caused a huge panic, because new streams couldn't be created by any member.

Though this might not seem like a big deal now, it was a HUGE deal to people who spent time on them every day.
