SNRI's (Strategic Naval Research Institute, administered by the military but staffed by civilian scientists and engineers.) first task was to develop a smaller, lighter, and more efficient mobile suit which could be adopted to various mission roles. Under the flag of the "Formula Project," SNRI designed and rolled out the F90 Gundam "Formula 90." The Gundam F90 certainly filled the EFF's bill, weighing in at a mere 17.8 tons fully-loaded, packing enough rocket thrusters to achieve a maximum acceleration of 4.2 Gs, and equipped with 11 hardpoints all over its body, which would allow the Gundam to be equipped with a wide variety of external weapons, armor, or other equipment. Despite its slightly smaller size and lighter weight, the F90 still carryied a standard armament of vulcan guns, beam sabers, a beam rifle, and a shield in its "basic" configuration. However, the hardpoints - and the vast array of new weapons and equipment designed to be mounted on them - allowed for as many as 26 different variations on the basic F90 frame, making this Gundam a true multi-role unit. Initially, two F90 units would be constructed for test flights and evaluations by the Earth Federation Forces' 13th Autonomous Fleet.

i saw that Variable Speed Beam Rifle in action! it was hardcore! it whernt through like two beam sheilds and destroyed the MS along the way! i was sad tho, it never really showed what happened when it "slowed down" the beam for "raw damage". i would expect something along the lines of the Archangel's Lohengrin.

vsbr can't be slowed down...it may looked like one shot but actually it's a 3.
too bad the lohengrin will be useless against uc's beam shield and mostly i-fields.
since minovsky particles can absorb beam based weapons. but the only way to penetrate an i-field and a beam shield is to have beam weapon with a high output power of minovsky.

"One of these technologies was the Variable Speed Beam Rifle, or "VSBR" for short, which was already successfully tested on the F90V Gundam F90 VSBR Type. Rather than being a hand-carried weapon powered by an energy cap or e-pac, the VSBR was mounted on the mobile suit itself and powered directly by its reactor. The pilot could adjust the speed at which the mega particles used in the beam fire were accelerated. the lohengrin is a positron blaster. i dont know how it would fare against an i-field, but its friggin anitmatter! its a powerful weaopn nevertheless.

be more specific...anyway, only minovsky based weapons can only panetrate an i-field. if the output power of that weapon is much higher than the i-field. lohengrin, doesn't have minovsky particles in it. so, the i-field will just simply absorb the beam.

if you think about it, was the agni that launcher strike used a kind of mini lohengrin? i base this question off a very weak premise, i.e. they shot similar looking beams. like, red in the middle, surrounded by blue or what not.

I'd think possibly the Unit 3 from Stardust Memory, that thing was tough.

i think the only thing about GP-03 was the Mobile armor. for the suit itself, i think its fighting ability would be lower b/c it was designed so much to be used with the orchis.

and since it was designed soley for space, i think it would be as akward on the ground as GP-01 was akward in space.

The GP-03 is comparible ta the GP-01 Fb, as far as capability is concerned. The original GP-01 was designed ta b a flexible multi-purpose suit and in terms of speed and manuverability; the GP-03 exceeded the original GP-01. It's flexibility was the GP-01's strong suit. However the GP-01 Fb upgrade was a faster suit than the GP-03, but the GP-03 had better manuverability. When the GP-01 was upgraded ta the Fb, it wound up sufferin' from the same vulnerability that the GP-03 suffered from; which was the fact that it became a specialty suit designed for space combat. The GP-03 also had another advantage, when it docked wit the Orchis it had firepower on it's side and it could also generate an I-Field when docked. Dependin' on how u look at it, in terms of overall capability, the GP-03 was a better suit.
