well, Light is evil, and it often is very attractive quality for a fictional character.
but he actually overdid it.
poor evil without any lifeless signs can get boring.
didn't really had any emotions, just his "justice dream".
It depends on how you look at. Just his good intentions were lead to be in vain, i mean killing people is not a way to make the world better. But it wouldn't even it'd make people live in fear. Trying to be god is just maniacle. Evil, definately.

Actually, when I heard Lind L Tailor talking about that, I was annoyed - HOW CAN IT BE EVIL WHEN HE'S DOING SOCIETY A FAVOUR? Especially considering he's making the police's job a lot easier. Although then again, if they didn't think so, then Death Note would just end right there and there would be no series to appreciate and discuss on this forum.
I'll take a potato chip...*gasp* *gasp*...and EAT IT!!!!
Yeah i do believe that Light is evil in its purest form he decided to play a wicked god like figure who would do anything to dispose of those who wronged others or just simply got in his way.

Not Evil really but he was more crasy but yes i do think he was evil he killed tons of people even inoccent like good cops and L he is evil i dont really understand how anybody could think hes good really.
I don't believe he is evil nor good he's just a person who's strong sense of justice and believes he is doing what he believes is right which is something i think we all have done or will despite the consequences
"Is it OK to kill criminals?"
is like asking whether the DEATH PENALTY (capital punishment) is just
Initally, Light - with all purity and innocence in him - was not using DN for personal gain. If Light remained calm and didn't kill people that "got in his way" (Lind L. Tailor and 12 FBI agents), he would eventually win. Regrettably, Light going against his own principal of "killing only criminals" was his downfall.
There is no "right" and "wrong" in Death Note. While Light's actions toward the end are inexcusable, his drive for Justice should be respected.
What makes humanity suffer is the people who live their lives so lightly, who don't care about what's going on in society.
Light is evil but its kind of the other peoples fault for making the world a bad place and light could see it all around him. So I do think light is evil.. but not as evil as everyone makes him out to be.
