That is a pretty weird and creepy Statement and the concept cof killing people is also quite disturbing fir peoples taste.

This anime has caused a whole lot of contreversy.
Many people are dissagreeing with the whole shinigami and death concept.

What the hell is emo about it? People seriously need to understand the definition of emo.
Second, that's like calling the ring in Lord of the Rings "weird retarted ugly gay" because it TOTALLY isn't realistic.

It's a fantasy story. No it isn't perfect and no I didn't really like it that much but the arguments you bring to the table are weak.

While I admit the series did start slumping down in episode twenty-something, and that the second opening and ending themes were... unsuitable to my taste (and it seems to many others), I wouldn't call the series all bad, just past its peak, losing creative steam.

Perhaps not everyone is interested in having the power of a Death God, but really, that's the main appeal of it; that a clever and deranged kid suddenly gets the power to kill people without laying a finger on them, and that the viewer gets to watch as the whole thing unravels. Have you even watched the series? And what's so bad about something being dark and creepy? Media like Resident Evil 4, Elfen Lied, and BioShock are dark and creepy, and they've all received critical praise, haven't they?

Can you give some points from the series that support your argument? Like, what exactly about it makes it "bad", and explain why something "dark" and "creepy" —and I'm guessing you mean psychological thrillers— is "bad".

Kurapika, Death Note is a different kind of anime.

Many people admire it for being dark and creepy.

It is one of the first widely popular shonen anime to show little direct action or violence.

And, as others have stated before me, I really don't know how you assiciate Death Note with emo.

True enough it is dark but not creepy. It engages you in continuess mental retalition. You wonder about the morality of what Light is doing yet you can see why he would want to do it in the first place. And no its not emo, people really need to stop saying that when they don't know what it really means.

Death Note has a obvious dark theme to it, but cannot be considered emo. No one complains about how much life sucks, or cuts themselves with razorblades. (If that is the emo you are talking about) Emo is a term that is just foolish, emotional does not always mean suicidal and dark.

The reason his eyes are as they are is more than likely due to the fact he is up at all hours of the night investigating cases. If that is not it then I am going to guess that is helping show the different in appearance from Raito and "L". But at the same time showing the similarities of how their minds work alike.
