dude why do u even put up hater thread on a death note lovers link? i mean comon if your trying to get to people to see your view then it's completely pointless. all these people like death note (myself included) and don't like your insults and accusations of the anime.
I have watched many animes from the girlies shojo manga to the bloodiest and darkest "emo" ones, and i have to say that death note is one of the best. not by it's darkness but by it's amazing plot twist, its speed inwhich events happen and by character development. it is a really well thoughtout story and weather or not u like u have to give the author props for coming up with situations that seems impossible to get out of and finding a small and foolproof way to resolve it that only a detective would see.

sure it's a bit dark and creepy but that's what makes it the show it is. and th things person above said about the characters and plot..(i dont thinks it's emo in any way though)

I think it's pretty dark, I wouldn't say it's "emo" or "creepy" I think that's why I like it, Death Note is way different then from most things I watch. It has an original story-line, and that's what I look for in everything. This is my favorite anime/manga and I've only seen the first two eps and read one volume of the manga. Although I have heard the storyline changes quite a bit, I doubt it's going to change for the worst. (At least for me.)

Yeah, of course its dark i mean the plot itself is dark. the name of the show is even dark! Yeah, but that doesn't make it creepy and emo, matterof fact i don't see anything emo about it. it's great, like my 3rd or 4th fav Anime and i kno its like my 1st or 2nd fav Manga

well i see something dark about the anime, but i like it anyway.

its the things people do after watching this anime that concern me. some man in either denmark or holland, i cant remember which, murdered some guy, cut him up, and threw his torso in a field with a note saying "i am kira" in japanese, and he has been dubbed "the manga murderer"

Death Note is dark, yes. I think that's established. It's about Death... but there's WAY WAY more to the series than that.

Light develops a "God Complex"... With this complex came a whole lot of killing... He used anyone who came his way to fulfill his plans of "becoming the God of the New World." It's about the way of Death, and the consequences that come from Light's actions.

Emo?? *sigh* I hate the word emo... Because everything that may happen to resemble the fashion automatically becomes "emo." I don't think anyone really knows what emo is. Seriously. Some of my best friends are into the emo style, but certainly don't want to cut or kill themselves. *SIGH*

It's actually supposed to have Goth elements... Did anyone look at Misa? She's a Japanese Lolita Goth. It may look more "main stream Hot Topic," but she's a Lolita Goth. ^_^

And yes, L's eyes are creepy. That's because, as several people have said already, he doesn't sleep. That's also why he's always eating candy, cakes, and drinking coffee. Sugar+caffine= up all night solving cases, catching Kira, you know... the good stuff.

In the end, everyone interrprets things differently. If it's emo to you, cool for you. I just disagree from my own personal view. *shrugs*

yea i dont think death note is emo at all....yea it was dark and creepy but that was the whole idea behind the series. and writing names in a DeathNote has nothing to do with being emo....its just fantasy. but i still thought the series and movies werent that bad at all. just the series could have been a bit better but still good.

Deathnote is a dark rollercoaster of intellectual cat and mouse and "who killed who?"

you wanna tell me it's emo? ok, who, by their own free will, kills themselves in that anime just because life isnt worth it. and if you say Naomi Misora then you havent payed attention,

i agree with every one of atomik_sprout's posts in this thread. Saying Death Note is emo is like saying a person who curses a lot has tourette's. it doesn;t make sense to bunch one thing up into a wave of stereotypes.

I agree just because people are being killed doesnt make deathnote emo. All light was trying to is make the world a the perfect place to live by destoying the ones who have already done wrong and preventing others from commiting crimes.
