I'd have to say that my favorite character from Death Note would have to be a tie betwee Light Yagami and Ryuk. Light has this "god complex" which makes him like the "anti-hero" in the story. His intentions--he claims--are good, yet he walks on the dark side to obtain his goal. He's smart, knows his way around the law, and even got the best of L a few times.

Ryuk, on the other hand, has got to be the funniest creature ever. For a Shinigami, he's way more interested in watching humans instead of using thier lives for his own life-span. He goes through these "crack-headish" withdrawls from apples, which always reminds me of my uncle Miles, the way humans interact with eachother teaches him something new every day. And since he's a shinigami, he can see people's names. In the case when they dealt with Raye Penber's wife. Ryuk throws little hints at Light to let him know that she used a fake ID. But he never helps him which is fun to watch.

My favorite character is Near. Definitely Near. I know he wasn't as talented as L but he was the most entertaining to me. Considering he was just a child and still was a good match for Light I give him my kudos.

because I'm so much like him in real life-- I can even sit like him. He's just so adorably amazing. How can you not love him?!

Haha... I would agree with anyone who says L is waaaaaay cool... He thinks differently, and he has a great deal of deductive skills... I bet he already knew way back that Light is actually Kira... Too sad that he died though... On the other hand Near is also wool if you think about it... And hes somewhat nicely drawn... a cute little boy with nearly the same characteristics as L... I bet that's why they names him near in the first place... What do you say?

I agree with solking - my favourite character would have to be Near. Can't say to much without giving away the whole ending, but Nears calculating skills whilst playing with toys- very entertaining indeed.

It seriously is a flip of the coin for me between Raito (light in english) and Ryuk. Raito, just like me, believes himself to be god but he actually took the extra step to create the perfect world. Sure in the beginning of the anime it appears he is doing good, when really killing a bunch of people, and thus making him the instant bad guy. But as it goes on you can see that the world is actually getting better, even if it is pure freight of Kira. The mere mention of Kira and everyone would stand up straighter, would cease fighting, would cease committing sin even though it was a lie just to stay alive. But then, when crimes were committed, the people who did the crime pleaded, asked for a second chance to be a good citizen. Some even asked Kira for forgiveness. The idea of an actual God taking control of the human realm was beginning to sink in and heal society. Wars ended. Raito almost had his perfect world... if it were not for the incompetent Mikami.

I love Ryuk because he's the only Shinigami out there that would go to so many lengths for a bit of entertainment. Reminds me a bit of my friends, crazy.

I really like Light because he has such a strong sense of justice. He's the activist that actually tries to change the world in a big way.

But I also really like L just because he is so quirky.

Just watching the two go at it is awesome to watch. It's just like one big chess match of wills.

I'm only on episode 11 but I can't wait to see how it will turn out!

he is such a cool and interesting character, and i like how his eyes where always big, and how he never sat or wore socks or shoes.. his hair is cool too.

yea i've been watching the show more and more and i'm up to about episode 28. L has become my favorite character undisputably now. But i'm not happy with episode 25 but I'll just have to keep on watching to see how that goes.

i also like how he only seems to eat sweets, and the crazy way he holds things.

i still think its funny how he just seems to automatically know some things. and how he found out that kira was in light's area in the first place...

yea i thought it was cute when he asked light if he was envious of him eating cake.

some of the logic just seems a bit too perfect in the show as well. everyone alwasy just happens to be smart enough to figure out the puzzle but oh well keeps us from having to watch five more shows of them trying to figure this or that out.
