I'd have to say Light, I mean. it's obvious. He's had L on the ropes more times than L would like to let on. and not to add...

When does that happen? I know I haven't seen many shows but I guess that I knew Light would kill L sooner or later.

That happens in like episode 25, he gets Rem to kill him for good, but sadly the story doesn't end there.....sigh

I'm aware of this Akumu, I saw it when i was in THE VAN....of my friends truck. he has a TV in it....THE VAN!-Dane Cook
but i guess that in the end DN ended in a..."Satisfying" way.

Light and L are close to equal when it comes to smarts, but from my perpective L is far more intelligent. You must admit that the fact thet L figured out that Light was Kira from the beginning was pritty amazing. Also although L died before Light it was only because Light had a major advantage, how can you fight a shinigami, also being able to kill with just a name and a face is very unpredictable. It is impossible to avoid being killed this way, in L's position anyway.

In addition L is a top-notch detective in his teen years, he has great detection skills (obviously). He even went so far as to reveal himself to Kira to provoke a reaction. That was definitely risky and probably the reason why he ended up dieing in the long run. If you ask me that was his first mistake, he made it clear to Light that he would be watching him from then on, if light was not Kira it would have been useful but in this case it was probably not the way to handle things. After all he didn't get much of a reaction out Light anyway.

i agree... Light is smarter... i was really impressed when i read on in the book. At such a young age too...(well, not that young.)

well looking at the two characters i have to say that Light is smarter than L. sure, they have a mental stalemate throughout most of the show, but eventually L falls to light.

Therefore Light's intellegence is superior to L.

light is smarter due to the fact he can read L's moves thats pretty hard to do because L doesnt leave a trace of what he's thinking but that ends up being lights downfall so L is smarter after all

I think Light is smarter than L because as you may all recall Light killed L. In few words, L got owned by Light. As a result, we can conclude that Light is smarter than L.
