First of all, Near only got lucky on making Ryuuk killing Light (my opinion lol)
If Ryuuk had a different personality, there's a possibility that he might have helped Light back there
I feel sorry for Misa though, she's all innocent ~_~

Light's ability to out manuever L and kill him definitely made me like him a little bit more.
However, if after the time they spent chained to one another, he did not forsee the interference of yet another individual is very very disheartening.

i actually think this is where the downfall of the series came in. (It was great don't get me wrong but they could've done things better)

I see that you haved watch deathnote for a time and I think Light didn't killed L, L was killed by Rem the shinigami of Misa and the real owner of Misa's deathnote...
Really Light able to maneuver L somehow and letting 'em both having a showdown and when Light was nearly losing Rem wrote the name of L in the deathnote resulting the death of L!

There are three movies and the titles are as follows:

Death Note
Death Note: The Last Name
L: Change the World

The one with Light's girlfriend (the one before Misa) is the first movie.


Side note-
Rem killed L to keep Misa happy. If she didn't kill L then Misa would have been found out and in turn Light would have been found out and he would have been taken down, making Misa depressed or whatever. So for Misa's ultimate happiness, Rem killed L.

Rem would have never had to kill L were it not for Light's scheming. He knew Rem would die to protect Misa and used that to his advantage.

The ending of Death note was perhaps the most controversial ending n teh last several years. My heart wishes that Near and L would have just done something else. But we all have different ethics. Even if you were rooting for Kira you had to be a little scared of teh power he wielded. It could not end happily for all after L got involved. it was sad.
