well i just watched the last episode of death note before i start watching the movies so did anyone see N beating Light at all??? I really thought it was too easy but then I didnt see Ryuuk killing Light at the end at all....I was completely shocked!!!!! Why do you think they didnt have Kira win in the end?? and so are the movies based on the series or.....completely different?

Well, my favourite character was N, so I was always hoping he'd win lol naturally! Ryuuk killing light in the end was, I wouldn't say it was unexpected,but I loved it!! My favourite part of the whole series is when Ryuk killed Light! I did watch the movies before the ending of the anime and manga though.

The movies are totally different. The same character wise, but the story goes differently than the manga or the anime, check it out if you ever get the chance

Yea i just finished them and I have to say they were not that bad i mean im really glad the movie didnt follow it exactly, i mean then it would have been pointless. who would want to watch the exact same thing??? i disliked "N" for the reasons Light pointed out, without Mello "N" was nothing. true he wins in the end but "L" just got unlucky, "N" was no where near ready for Light....like the little near joke??? No?? meh i tried! = P

Yeah, but I really think it added a lot to the story the fact that Near wouldn't have been able get light without Mello...made me like the two of them a lot more LOL

as for the movies well, I liked how L died in the movies better than the anime and manga LOL. it was like - Well I'm going to die, but at least i've got light, where as in the manga it was near and mello that got light in the end. But I guess that's because I loved seeing the fact that L caught light ^_^

I hated the end. I mean, Near and Mello were nowhere near as skilled as L was and they beat Kira? Not bloody likely. I wish Light had written his own name in the notebook, just to spite Ryuuk . . . that would have been wicked awesome. The second he said, "N, I win" I could have killed him myself (thanks all the same, Matsuda). HUBRIS!!!!!!! His fatal flaw was his pride . . . pitiful . . .

Feh, I dislike Near. He's no comparison at all to L. L is the world's greatest detective...I mean come on...he lost to a College student no less. That just...makes a weird sense or irony or something. It doesn't seem right to me.
I agree with D_P, his fatal flaw was his pride and him saying "I win, Near" without making considerations that Near could've actually figured it out.
I found Mikami's Suicide to be....well...unexpected to say the least. He was like...turly insane to do something like that.
I'd have to say though, the graphical appearence of the episode was something to behold though. Much of it was pretty cool to see, even Raito getting shot.
And of course the climax, Ryuuk writing Raito's name. I thought it looked quite well, along with the dialog being above average. Seeing L's apparition was a nice touch....then the slowly closing of the eyes...nice.
Overall....good closure but I don't like Near. xD

well in my opinion if kira had won they would of had to carry out a whole new series. but if they did have to make another series because of maybe demand or something then, they could always just bring Light back to life then Bam! A whole new series of death note, like bring him in to life via shinigami! But i want a big fan of Near River, him anf Michael (mello) they just didnt impress me even though they did mangage to catch kira, but I thought yes he would die its just that i didnt think that was how would have gone. overall i loved the series that why i pushed past whats on AS to see it!

Well L didn't die in vain. His actions are what set up Near and Mello for the win. Not sure if its just me but I think L had this setup from the very beginning. He knew that Kira couldn't resist killing L since he was practically his equal in almost every way. That's how they were able to know that his pride was Kira's greatest weakness. Once you draw it out he had no choice but to gloat before those who he knew were gonna die.

The best part of the ending was when Matsuda shot him. Never thought he had it in him. And Ryuuk killed him at the end because he told Light that he was gonna kill him. So he did.
