Another Search Engine Improvement Request

Could we get searches performed from the base categories to index all subcategories? IE. a search run from "scans" here http://www.animeonline.net/gallery/index.php/cat/574 would run search in "female", "male" and "group". Now a search in that category results in nothing at all (implying that whatever's searched doesn't exist in the scan gallery).

Currently the only way to access advanced search is to enter an empty query. That's not immediately obvious to anyone. Can we get a button/link under the search box?

There is a Search link that takes you to the Advanced Search page right above this box.

There is a link called "Search" in a seperate toolbar bout an inch above the search box. There's nothing obvious to indicate that it would do anything different than typing a word into the search box and hitting the button.

Can we actually CALL it "advanced search" and perhaps move it closer to the search box itself?

What about getting a link to a users gallery from their profile. We used to have one, it's a pain in the butt to find someones gallery these days.

But then you would also have members that don't use the gallery also have this link.

At this stage, I don't want to edit "Search" to "Advanced Search" tsurara as I don't think it will make a difference to how members use AO.

It is making a rather large difference in the gallery. People are searching for things which don't appear, that makes them think it isn't in there. Since we have ONLY a browsing system (no other sorting of which to speak), it's essential that the search is accurate, user-friendly and makes sense to everyone. If it doesn't, no matter how much we add to the gallery and how many tags we change: most of it remains useless.

Isn't there a way to change it only there? It doesn't seem like a phenomenally huge coding change to add a text link beneath the search box ^^; I mean, I know how to do it in PHP and html and I'm a total idiot.

The gallery search is NOT the same as the forum search... nor does the gallery search link appear on the rest of the site:

Done. You will see "Advanced Search" at the top and in the box below "Search". I doubt it will make a difference though. Let's see.
