Ok, I added some working tables to the test gallery. Attached is the basic structure with each line commented as to what I had in mind, I don't think the structure will remain this way but it is what I have in mind for pre-coding. Anyway, take a look if you are SQL savvy and let me know if I may have missed something or if you think something else would work better.

(Also note that there are a few added fields since this is independent of the actual database and I need certain values I will be pulling from the main database later)

I plan to start some coding this week and hopefully will get some content up there shortly, hopefully pre-year end.

I hope you are not putting too much effort into this, as the developers of the gallery have a strong and paid team to continuously improve the gallery.

At best, I would suggest only slight changes to the existing gallery to improve over the default.

I have no intentions on using their stuff and modifying it, you would have to do a LOT of testing each time you upgraded the gallery to ensure the changes I made didn’t screw something up (or stop working all together) in accordance with the upgrades. Plus I would have to have their permission to modify their files. That isn’t a good course of action. While they do have a paid staff and are working on upgrading their product, it doesn’t mean that the product is the “best” solution for your site. Generic products lead to plain and boring sites, with little ability to add any new features or customize.

My purpose is to design something new and fresh for AO, based on staff opinions and suggestions. That way we get a product that works for the site and has features we all can enjoy.

Ultimately, if you see the final product and don’t like it, you don’t have to use it or change anything. It is your site. BUT I have lost nothing as I gained the experience in building the gallery and will have learned a lot. I think it a fair trade off.

As far as upgrades to the finished product I make if you decide to use it…that isn’t a big deal. I plan on leaving the code as open source (fully commented) for AO and anyone you trust can upgrade or modify the gallery as needed (assuming I am not around for what ever reason).
