But as said before, many other shows were drawn in japan and not considered anime. like Batman Beyond, Xmen Evolution and all that.

And avatar can be considered anime, the thread is about if it is or is not. Considering something to be and knowing something to be are two different things.

I know avatar by definition is not an anime, but due to the heavy asian culture references, the martial arts styles, and the weaponry, even the animation styles and facial expressions, I personally see avatar as an American Anime.

I say it is an anime because of the type of story line it has and also because of the many Japanese traditions it does follow. I also think it is an anime because of the way it is drawn.
Although, a lot of people don't think it is an anime I personally think it is.

I agree with Neo. Avatar has so many influence and comparable things what anime DOES have, that you can call it an American Anime. It's technically not an anime, but next the drawing style everything is like an anime.

Anyway, it doesn't really matter whether it is or isn't an anime. The Last Airbender looks good, has a great story and is just enjoyable to watch.

Well I dunno, I hate Avatar dude. But thanks everyone for the definition of an Anime. cuz my dream is to make my own anime series when i get outta high school so thanks a ton, maybe my dream can come true after all huh?
