my question for all u ppls is how can something that is made of ice, possibly make firebenders stronger? And ive heard the the whole "it reflects the rays making it like 2 suns" stuff but then you could also say that the comet acts like a second moon, Also pulling the water.

okay... here we go into the realms of science...

fact 1:
a comet has a tail and a body made of ice and/or rock and it only holds itself in that state when it is still in the vivinity of space (which is a vacuum)

fact 2:
when a comet's orbit intersects with the earths, it will eventually come into contact with it... and when it does, it enters the earth's atmosphere.

fact 3:
when it finally enters the earth's atmosphere, it has to counteract the force exerted upon it by our atmosphere which is stronger than the force needed to lift 10 tons worth of weight......

fact 4:
this counteracting force causes friction to be applied on the comet... and where there is friction there is heat... this heat is so great tat it is 1/4 the temperature of the sun's surface... 8-10 times hotter than an orange flame produced by a normal gas stove...

fact 5:
and you guessed it... a flame is produced which melts the ice in the comet leaving only the rocky center (or it disperses into vapor if it is purely made of ice).

fact 6:
if it collodes with the earth's crust (as some only pass by... pehaps that is why the comet has come back after 100 years), it produces a crater.

that is it...

so technically, the comet is under the element of fire once it enters the earths atmosphere

only 8-10 times the heat of orange flame? They might of well of just used lightning. The comet it self isnt under the element of fire. Because the comet itself didnt change it only caught fire. Thats like saying a pile of wood is an element of fire.
