you know... 8-10 times is hot... lightning might be really hot, but it only hits you for a short period of time and cannot actually cause severe (meaning deadly) damage to a person if the exposure is less than 20 seconds...

plus another thing... a flaming piece of wood... or even an ember, will most likely be under the control of fire... it is being consumed by their element thus engulfing it into it's own realm...

Why dont you think lighting under 20 sec cant do seveare damage? i lightning bolt that lats somewhere between 0-1/2,3 tops. And thats enough to kill most people unless their lucky. Now lighting last 10-20 seconds can burn a hole clean through a person and most things behind it.

And if they could control the wood/anythign they catch on fire they wouldnt have any problem tearing down the earth kingdoms wall. Catch it on fire then bring it down.

probaly the comet burn up to flame and the flame give the firebender power...

dude. im pretty shure lightning can burn clear through a person and most things behind it in way way less than 10 sec. more like 1-2.

all it takes for the lightning to kill you is the disruption of your heartbeat and synaptics. the burning flesh and smoldering ashes are a side-effect.

as for the comet itself, its just something they creators thought would be cool to have and put it in there. thats all there is to it.

buti still stand for the fact that a comet can be justified as a medium of fire.

its definitely on fire no doubt about it Or it was fireing with rage

another thing you may forget, or just may not know, is that for centuries, and moreso in times long past, comets where signs of strength and military prowes. they may have put this in the show to seve to make them seem even more of a juggernaught.
