    Requests for the perfect anime

Hey guys, I'm looking for a few good animes to look into.

I'm looking for something with a moderate amount of violence, blood, and/or gore. It doesn't have to be crazy. I'm not asking for an anime that's like the first episode of Elfen Leid at every scene, but something that's got hair on its chest. I liked Blood+, Elfen Leid, GANTZ, and those sorts. I don't know how many other shows there are out there with as much gratuitous violence as those, but I would love to watch them.

Also, I would prefer a fairly lengthy anime. I mean, Elfen Leid was only 13 episodes, GANTZ was only 26, but Blood+ came in at a solid 50. I'm not asking for 270+ like DBZ, but something that has time to develop good character transitions would be great.

    Thanks guys.

    Kill a thousand men, you're a ruler.
Kill every man, you're a God.

    Grumble Grumble Grumble

The 'standard' length for anime series is either 13 or 26 episodes, rarely 52 episodes... 'Horror' genre series are a niche product, outside both the Japan general audience and the Otaku fan mainstream, so long running horror series simply don't exist...

About the only 'horror' series longer then 26 episodes (other then Blood +) I can think of are...

The award winning 'Death Note' of 37 episodes, plus 2 TV movie specials...
Death Note - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    'Monster' of 74 episodes...
Monster (manga) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Other significant series of a 'dark' nature you could try would be...
The award winning 'Gankutsuou' the SciFi remake of 'The Count of Monte Cristo' of 24 episodes...
Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The award winning action cyberpunk series 'Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex', 2 seasons 26 episode seasons and a TV movie
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

There is also the gumshoe detective mystery series known as 'Detective Conan' which has a murder almost every episode. (Can't have a murder mystery without a victim...) which is over 630 episodes and 15 theatrical movie releases, but its a family hour program that can't really be considered a 'horror' series...

I do love Monster. One of my favorites. I only got to see the first 4 or 5 episodes, though. I should look back into it.

I've also heard about that Count of Monte Cristo anime. I might give that a look too. I love Detective Conan (Case-Closed) and I had no idea there were that many episodes. O_O

you should try Claymore , its filled with gorey demon-killing action that i bet anybody who likes horror and gore will enjoy . however , it does have onl about 25 episodes =/
you should try Higurashi no naku ...now this is...gorey ,violent and definitely horror , im not gonna give any spoilers but you should really watch it , especially if you want animes that give enuf time to build up characters personality, etc.
It is watched in the order of Ni (higurashi no naku koro ni ), followed by Kai (higurashi no naku koro ni kai) .

I'd suggest Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood... can't go any better than that.
