Completely overshadowed by the American Elections. Too bad, he wrote some very famous stories.
National best-seller, writer of Jurassic Park and creator of ER - though I personally believe his book The Great Train Robbery was his best work - has died today of cancer.
'Jurassic Park' author, 'ER' creator Crichton dies - CNN.com
I wasn't a big fan of his works, but I have to give him his due respect from one writer to another as a GREAT writer whos words have one of the greatest pulls into their story ever.
May he rest in peace.

I love his books and I just picked up the 'The Andromeda Strain' to read.
I love the science he puts in his books, in fact I've only read the books his made about science, but do plan on reader others of his
He inspired me to take up creative writing and to keep reading. I was also obsessed with Jurassic Park which will forever be a favourite of mine, with Timeline a close second
RIP
Oh man! HE'S DEAD? That's a horrible shame... he was one of my favorite authors. My Comp teacher and I got into a long discussion on him, and I found out his name isn't pronounced 'Critchton.'
I wonder if anyone has read Prey? It's one of my favorites by him, along with State of Fear. The way he melds science and literature together is amazing and inspiring. My class was assigned a free-topic research essay while I was still reading Prey.
Needless to mention, my topic was genetics. It is one of the most BORING topics to read about and some of the books are just so complicated. How could one many possibly fill his head with all those words, process them, and churn out a good story?
For the longest time I had no idea he was the mind behind Jurassic Park and ER. It's weird connecting the dots. His afterwords and bibliographies are really good too.
Sucks he had to leave.
