Winning is good. But, I don't write to win, I write to write. I do my best... and "may the best man win" is always how I look at it. There's been more than a few times where, I did not think my piece was the best when it was all said and done.I mean winning isn't everything, but why enter a contest if you don't want to win? Thats just silly, and secretly everyone wants to win. Doesn't matter what you say.
I like to play scrabble too, its another game where I compete with only myself. I play the best plays I can think. I try not to think about whether the other persons score is higher. I JUST DO MY BEST. And, I usually play a good game.
Why does it seem like so many people have contesting backwards? Winning is a bout being the best. Being the best is about skill, improvement, practice, staying grounded and focused. Thus everything one produces should be in the spirit of skill improvement, ect. Obviously increasing the odds of "winning".

Yes, you're absolutely correct... Everything I wrote here is of course all about you, and your participation or lack there of. I am just so wrapped up in whether or not you won, or "beat a mod". Or whether you're gonna sacrifice your other worldly writing skills in order to allow us all a fighting chance to win. I'm oozing with jealousy as much as I'm oozing with sarcasm at the moment.
Really, it wasn't always like this. Writing here was fun, and worth while.
We used to be able to love each others expression through poetry. When it worked, it was a nice additive to this site. I'm allowed to miss that aren't I?You know, I feel if you all loved poetry just a little less, maybe you would lover each other a little more!

..and yet, I don't regret the journal entry. Hammer shared some rather nice information about his involvement with writing, poetry, and youth. So... it wasn't a complete waste.
