Thread: Have you ever...

...gone on a ridiculously long drive for no reason?

I did. I drove all the way out to Hastings, MN on Friday in order to make a sales attempt. The guy and his wife seemed interested in the Kirby, so I ask the guy if he wants to fill out the paperwork to complete the transaction. I gave him a sweet deal. He would pay $0 down and no payments til 10/11/09 (keep that part in mind). Anyway, he says he's got an appointment to go to, but I can come back the next day to do the paperwork. I called my boss and got the OK, so I packed up my sh*t and left.

I drove back the following day thinking to myself, "I hope this dude isn't on some BS," and when I get there, his wife was the only one home. I asked where her spouse went, she said she didn't know. So, I'm gettin' ready to ask her if she wants to call the guy. She says, "I don't know if you wanna sell him that vacuum," then lists a bunch of reasons why. "He's on unemployment, he has bad credit, he has this, he does that," is all I really got out of her. Then she says, "If you let him fill out the paperwork, I promise you he won't make payments on it. He doesn't make any money. He just wanted a free vacuum." Keep in mind that vacuum is friggin' expensive! It's like the Cadillac of vacuums. We're talkin', at the cheapest, $1,700.

So, I took the vacuum and went back to the car--pissed off that I drove 45 mins to an hour to get way the hell outta Minneapolis and be denied a sale.

It's not the first time I've gone on pointless drives, but that one was the most discouraging. >_<
