Come on, would Trunks really do such a thing if he did have that power, we the community do have a right of pravicy/personal messages in our mail to friends on this site.

Like Len said 1 post above this, there is not privacy in the internet. So, don't pm personal things that may be compromising. Also, i don't think any Admin here on AO would be reading your PM's unless they don't have anything better to do, amirite?

Any one with full access to the database in phpMyAdmin can read the private messages. And I can count the number of people who can on one hand, and i'm not one of them, and neither is anyone below Len, which leaves the Full Administrators.

The question is, why would we want to?

Do you have anything to hide Peach?

Keep in mind that private messges are two way communication, and the other person you're talking too could have made any PM public.

Don't confuse a privilage with a right. Like Len said, on the internet, there is no such thing as true privacy.

I also have to remind you that the site is a privately owned buisness (This website makes money through ad revenue, so it is a buisness), and as such, can be run any way the owner wants, and if they want too, they could read your private messages. You're just going to have to have some trust in the Integrity of the staff.

Even in the real world, Privacy is a two way street, you have privacy because someone else alows you to have it, regardless of rights or laws enforcing them.

Now, lets go on to reasons why we would need to read private messages.

The first reason would be if we suspect that a major rule has been broken and needs to be delt with. The sites integrity and security is paramount.

The second reason would be if there is suspected illegal activity going on. I know for sure that any of the admins would look kindly on child porn being swapped through PMs. (Extreme example, but you get my point)

Well... I guess what I don't know, won't hurt me?

I figure anything personal I PM to someone, is really only of importance to me and the people I know (or who know the situation). Outside of that, anyone who gets a view of my life... are kinda like a fly on the wall. And, really, as long as I'm unaware of it, it doesn't bother me. The U.S. Government watches everybody anyway.
