Thread: a "anime online" mag

Are you perhaps thinking of a blog? Or are you actually talking about those antique bundles of paper, ink, staples, and glue that I see sitting in the news stands with pretty pictures of pretty people, politicians, and athletes plastered all over the covers?

Also this doesn't look very much like a fanfic, does it?

Things like this have been attempted in the past. (And they all failed!!!) Ultimately, it boils down to the fact that online magazines take a great deal of time and effort, and since the staff have real lives outside of their anime/manga hobby, it becomes difficult to make the time and effort to do so.

Even dedicated sites that have tried to do this, and commercial sites (the latest example would be 'AnimeOnline.com' put out by Navarre/FUNimation...) have all failed and died trying to do so...

I agree that an online mag will take quite a bit of work. If people are interested in writing and creating artwork to go into a compilation I can set up a wordpress blog as part of AO and give some members the reigns to see what they can do with it. We could turn it into a sort of online mag format. PM me if you are interested.

i thought it sounded quite cool ^^ and tbh i have been asked once or twice about makin a mag btw an ao member before and i did what i had to do and it never lifted but yeah cb sounds cool to me tbh ^__^

what about making it exclusive to AO members or make it special order to those not on the site? like, pay a fee to have it sent out and stuff.. i'd pay for it.
but i bet making the mag would be more expensive than the fees involved making the mag wouldn't they?

I think that the only real option would be an online magazine that a few AO members could run. I'll tinker around a bit to see if there is a clean WordPress based magazine template that can be used and then if there interest is there we can assign roles to interested members and see what comes out of it. I've already heard from some of you who are interested in writing articles and editing so we may be able to give it a try....maybe do monthly issues at first and reevaluate after issue #1.
