AO Chat Room

I was thinking, since this is in a lot of other forums I've seen, it'd be cool if we had a chat room.

This way, AO members can interact directly anytime.

chat topics that what we've already discussed in other threads. please search them and satisfy your curiosity

chat room?

This apparently was discussed in AO's earlier days under old management(before when i joined)

Yes Sasurai is right. The idea may sound good but the reality is not, I have been aboard for longer than most members and I can assure you Chatrooms dont work on this type of communities. To have a decent chatroom you need several members active at one single time, and face reality we are lucky to pass the average 30-40 users at teh same time on the forums and this forums are a lot more attractive than any chatroom.

So what are your chances of getting more than 5 people constantly, none.

While a chat room for this community might not work, it doesn't mean that an anime themed chat room won't work on its own.

Me and my friend (Who has written a fairly solid Perl script for a chat room similar to Outpost10F (Linked in my Sig)) have been batting around this idea for ages, and just needed the webspace to do our work in.

That sounds really good.

I've seen forums with usually only 5-10 people at a time with an active chat room.

That maybe because they were all very active...but IDK

yes but what about if they made the chat room a non get up post area so you don't get any posts from it so people don't feel pressaured to write things with meaining?

the chat room in this topic is referring to those java types or shoutout boxes types, the dont up posts. We had a chat forum, that went fairly smooth, but yet again it failed as members started breaking practically every rule and causing a lot of edrama. Sure you can argue "with new members there shouldnt be any problems among them?" wrong, thats exactly what happened last time, members got to knew eachother, starting arguing/ fighting over people/ trying to date.,

In short : It was one hell of a disaster!

the 5000 post thread was pretty intresting last year
you could spam till your hearts content but the poem's
fan fics and the other areas of AO were neglected Alot
of people left becase of this like Cerebrum and a few others.

so a chat room i think would hurt things more than anything
inface i have a friend Alacurd spriggan who lost intrest because
of the thread it slowed down aklot of cool things , but thats just how i saw
it when it was around as a example of why chat rooms/threads are pretty bad.

i amdit it was fun but it got boaring and i starts posting in the
poems section and have been ever since i think chat rooms/threads were
always boaring and strill are
