To quote the rules:

"The admins will appoint moderators whom they feel are suitable for the role and also as many as they believe are needed. Do not ask to become a moderator. So by asking you pretty much already destroyed your chance of ever becoming one, and in addition so far you have not shown the characteristics of what a staff member should be.

Destroying the chance of becoming one by asking is probably one of AO's most beautiful rules.
