    Moderator Feedback Thread

I'm curious to know if you think that we, as moderators and administrators are doing as good a job as we might be? Have we been fair? Have we been too harsh? Are we overmoderating some areas? Are we not moderating others enough? Is there something you think we need to do more of? Have we played favorites? Are there too many mods? Not enough?

**Please refrain from naming names! The moderators will most likely know who they are from the incidents described and those involved, there's no need to "call them out" in public.

We don't promise action, but feedback will keep us honest.

    What are we doing right?
    What are we doing wrong?
How can we be more helpful to the general AO population?

You guys as whole are doing a fairly good job moderating the site.

    What are we doing wrong?
I have notice that most of you guys (Mods) break the rules such as the vague quality post rule.

How can we be more helpful to the general AO population?
I guess if you guys would act more friendly even if you guys don't mean it.

Well you broke the rules. If we let everyone go around and act like mods, some members might get offended by your actions, and fights may break out.

Just wondering, does reviving a 14 days old thread cost you an infraction worth 25 points?

Considering I was the one who gave it to you, the answer is yes.

'Cause you give me something / That makes me scared, alright / This could be nothing / But I'm willing to give it a try / Please give me something
'Cause someday I might call you from my heart

    Re: Moderator Feedback Thread

I had always thought it was good; Mods were helpful in many ways, kept the site going with creative ideas, seemed like the perfect enviornment to come online to after school or work.

that is until i saw the last few replies.

now it seems like there are instances were some of the mods are a little too power hungry and eager to give out infractions. cracking down hard (again i'm going by the above replies) on some helpful posts or a slightly outdated thread only says to me that creativity and growth among the members in themselves and for others will be limited greatly if we're too scared to say our mind in a productive manner or help a new member so they won't get the infraction.

    n.

    1. One that moderates, as:
    1. One that arbitrates or mediates.
    2. One who presides over a meeting, forum, or debate.
    2. The officer who presides over a synod or general assembly of the Presbyterian Church.
    3. Physics A substance, such as water or graphite, that is used in a nuclear reactor to decrease the speed of fast neutrons and increase the likelihood of fission.
a Moderator in my belief is a Mediator - One that mediates, especially one that reconciles differences between disputants - and helps people more then punishes them. What does that do for new members-to-be?

I'm not saying every mod here is harsh and sometimes too power hungry, more then half are very friendly and helpful. Just that a small few amount could make a huge difference in members staying or leaving.

I'm sorry, i really, REALLY don't mean to preach like that, but i don't want to see any of the members. ANY member... leave because some of the punishments were out of proportion.

^^\ My two cents plus a couple dollars.
