we went out today! just a short trip to Burbank cuz Soshi felt like getting a book~

City of Thieves by David Benioff
Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery

am almost done with City and it's a really great book!
got it cuz the girl at Border's really liked it and recommended it!
basically, it's winter.. in Russia... in 1942... dismal, yes?
but instead of the usual punishment (i.e. death), the Colonel sends out the author's Grandad (who at the time is 17) and another guy to find a dozen eggs for his daughter's wedding cake. and if they find them by the following Thursday (they were arrested Saturday), they get off scott free!

but honestly, what made me want to get the book was "a dozen eggs for his daughter's wedding cake"....
it made me cry...

as for Green Gables, everyone has always said it's like the best book ever and i wanna see why~

I got me a book too.
I'm not much for a reader, but considering the fact that I've done nothing but play video games for a hobby for the last... how many years, I got tired of controlling characters, I want to see someone do something instead.
...I could technically watch a movie, but there's not that many movies that are begging me to watch them. :p So a book is good enough.

Books are great. I read way too much manga, so once in a while i refresh my brain. Strange, we were supposed to read Anne of Green Gables last year, and I never did.

City of Thieves sounds good...but Russia, Winter, in 1942...
It sounds like ther perfect setting for something sad to happen. =]

I LOVE books. It is the reason I am wearing glasses now. I used to constantly read. Then I discovered computer games and I started an affair, sneaking in times with the computer. Anime wasn't till later.
