It depends where in Canada they're going. Canada is a big country (bigger then the US, seeing how its the second largest country in the world after Russia).
If you're going to say, Calgary Alberta, which is pretty much a streight drive north, it'll take about 24 hours of driving.

I live in Flagstaff (AZ) myself and I know I'd rather take a plane ride than to car it the whole way; for me that's a huge deal since I'm freakishly terrified of heights.
