Difference from the dark knight and the batman

Hey everyone, this is a quick question for anyone that knows the answer from what i am about to ask.

What is the difference between *The Dark Knight* and *The Batman*? Why?

I really don't know to answer my own question even though i am asking, although from the Batman I have watched it all, and it seemed that both characters of the Joker are in the same film. I really do not know on how to make it clear for myself, can you guys help me out to have this simplified?

The Dark Knight is simply a nickname for Batman.

hey dark kun no difference between the dark night and batman. the dark night was supposed to have been coined for him by the paper that usually covers him or first cover him. i have to go back to the comic books and what show featured that.

Batman is the Dark Knight. Just like Superman is the Man of Steel. It is just an epithet.

Oh, so having the *Dark Knight* would be treated the same as the *Batman*?

Ok that makes clear sense only the one thing in my head is this, why make another movie related to the Batman when there is already the same thing out to the public then?

I tried to be specific, but it turns out to be a ball of confusion towards this secondary movie about the batman. My only thoughts on this preview it shows that this Joker is always a nightmare for this Dark Knight all the time in any detailed place.

The Dark Knight movie is the sequel to the Batman Begins movie.

I think if you check the graphic novels that are out the Dark Knight is a darker telling of the Batman story. I could be wrong but that is the way I see it.

Yes its a nickname for Batman so there is nothing different about the Dark Knight and BatMan.
