material things do not satisfy, they only leave you wanting more. yeah sure i buy videogames, and anime, and though these things bring me enjoyment, i get more out of unmaterialistic things.
Blackness covers all I see and all I touch. No feeling of pain, just sorrow. My hand loses grip of the sword I held. And I turn to become a true shadow.

That is always a nice feeling.
That as well, plus the fact that I adore books.

Well living in the media, advertising controlling society we live in, we are basically being told what to buy and that these things will make us happy.

I am happy when I buy things that I worked hard to save for, I am happy when I buy things for other people.

But I hate when I spend on things that I want, not what I need.

but then I can't help it with anime and games..I guess we all have our weaknessess

I am thrilled for about a week and then it goes to the back of my closet or in a pile on my floor somewhere. So my question is, Do material objects make you happy? Sometimes I think they do but I think for myself it is just the feeling of accomplishment of getting something new. What do you think?
Absolutely material objects make me happy, particularly guns and cars. It has nothing to do with the selfish desire for more material objects, even though I'm a business major. Rather, material objects can be trusted. Humans cannot.

For example, even on your worst day, when your car is broken down on the side of the road, there is a cause to the problem which can be deduced through the scientific method. If the car was well maintained, this problem is most likely just an error from a worn part, or possibly a problem which had not been observed before.

People, on the other hand, even if a relationship with them is observed to be on good terms, they will STILL find ways to betray you, manipulate you, or use you to their own ends. The scientific method does not work for diagnosis, because often most people do not operate efficiently or consistently. Rather, their incompetence or their worthless emotions interfere, resulting in problems with no reasonable cause.

Of course, this problem with humans is the reason for more material posessions, either to rub their failure in their face (as in luxury cars), or to defend yourself against such vermin (as in guns).

Man, if only I could actually afford the unaforrdable!!!!
well I gotta admit there might be a few items or materials as you say that sorta make me happy, although most of the time I really cant be bothered to buy pointless things like that.
