Does a lifetime of pain result in a low self esteem

When your made fun of all your life does that cause you to have a low self esteem. If so how do you recover from it...

it only affect your self esteem if you let it, ymself i nevr let words bother me
growing up guess i was the kid that ignored everyone when i was in school.
but name calling does make other kids have low self esteem,and they will and can recover given time and having freinds there to have there back when there feeling bad over name calliing.

ya well everyeoen feels differnt about it so i say it has effected me and causes me to take less risk in life... \i m a freshman in college and i missed out on alot in high school

i think u can recover but it takes awhile....i don't know the best way to tell anyone how to get it over that sorta thing but someone should be able to get over it. i did and look ow i came out. but i think it hard and takes a while to get it back ur self esteem

people react to such treatment in their own way. Some block it out and carry on with their lives as if nothing has happen. Others may break down and cry and maybe emotional weak. They may become stronger as a result of it coz they're resolved to not give up.

Not really I've been in pain a lot during my life I'm fine I just like to hate :/ but I'm not low self esteem.

It could have the exact opposite effect too.
Making you hard as a diamond because you lost the ability to trust anyone.

yes i say that it does, but my ideason how to get used to it, are...well not good, see, this is what I have done for all these years, its going to be hard but try to stay impassive when they make fun of you, so then after a while they shoud give up, thats what I did, but I have a good amount of supressed anger, and thats not healthy

Many suffer from low esteem. And sometimes, it doesnt come from pain.
