    domestic violence

Now this is bad, domestic violence is everywhere. I mean women are being beaten and brutally hurt, for the things they didnt do. On saturday, i saw a women bleeding from her left eye and a blood clog was hanging out. Should things like this be kept under control or should this stop?

    Re: domestic violence

It goes without saying that it's gotta stop. It's just not right for people to get "punished" for wrongs they didn't commit, or for no reason at all. I've seen little kids sitting around outside their houses, looking bruised and battered - clearly, they were beaten by their parents - and I think to myself, "Why should your kids be subject to that kind of torture!?"

I once visited an asylum with a friend (we went there to perform community service) and there was this kid who kept screaming and... well, going into hysterics. And when he wasn't noisy he was just frighteningly quiet. Later one of the workers told me he was subject to domestic violence before. I didn't ask for the details (rather, I didn't want to) but there were marks all over his arms and legs. My gosh. My heart broke.

    Re: domestic violence

We have to remember that domestic violence doesn't ONLY happen to women and children. Men are abused, too, but they don't really come forward about it and there is less help for them. I feel that domestic violence shouldn't even be an issue! I realize that some people get on sick, sadistic power trips and feel it's necessary to dominate, but that shouldn't be at the expense of another human being. It should stop. Immediately. But it can only begin to end if each individual is a bit less cruel. Essentially, peace starts with us. (By the way, today - October 16th - marks the beginning of World Unity Week.)

defence f i see it , you can get mad at me if i jump in your face and say stop it if i see you hurt a kid as punishment but i just think pain is never a solution

I should stop. No one should be hurt like that unless they agree to a fight.

    Re: domestic violence

It all starts with the parents think discipline is in order and pain to them means memory. I was rased on hard work, respect, and humility.
I have seen the belt once in my childhood and that worked a fue good pops after that it was "do you wan't me to get the belt". But these people have this thought in there head that the child will alwas be bad and will never be anything which in turn makes them the same way as thay get older, its the curl cycle that has no love in site.

    Re: domestic violence

That's not the main reason for domestic violence. People are just wrong in the head and they can't control their emotions. A beating now and then is fine - I got caned when I was a kid, and I must say it helped discipline me. But NOT to the extent of causing physical injury beyond what is sensible (that is, beyond what's appropriate to discipline a child). A lot of kids become victims of domestic violence not because their parents have got in their heads that these kids are "bad", but because their parents are just sick. Sick, plain sick.
