    Re: Education Abroad

    1. What & where do/did you intend to study, and why?

Right now I am studying at San Jose State University, because UC Davis did not have Accounting, and UC Santa Cruz was not my type of school (looked more like a farm land than a campus). SJ State was in a metropolitan city, it was the next best choice, I get to get away from home but not far enough to miss my mother's cooking . And we have some of the greatest looking female students here. Semi-Party school I guess.

    2. What influences/influenced your choice of major?

I chose Business Accounting because I was surrounded by business all my life, and numbers have always been my forte. I don't like science (significant figures are lame, and it's almost all dudes in that major so uh-uh no way).

    3. Also, what influences/influenced your choice of college?

    See number one.

    4. Have you taken the SAT/ACT/TOEFL/IELTS/other required external exam?

I have taken those for the reason that I was applied to the UC's when I was in high school. I only took the SAT and never did that well, probably because some stupid ass decided it was okay to start the testing at 7:00 am.

    5. Anything else that's relevant (ask questions, give advice, etc)

Party enough to pass, work hard enough to not fail that's all I can say. College has been the best time of my life. I did so many new things I did before, met many people, and enjoyed playing Time Crisis 4 at the Student Center in between classes.

After you graduate, you'll be a slave until you retire, so make everyday count.

'Cause you give me something / That makes me scared, alright / This could be nothing / But I'm willing to give it a try / Please give me something
'Cause someday I might call you from my heart

I just can't see the fun everyone is having at college. It's hard and no fun for me.The parties are lame, no friends, the same boring thing everyday. Waiting until I can get back home.

It just might be because of my lack of passion for everything I do but I enjoy college about as much as I did highschool. And highschool was the equivalent of a rectal prolapse in porn .

    1. What & where do/did you intend to study, and why?
I havne't aplied to any college or university yet, but my top 5 colleges/universities that i wish to attend are; Devry University, UMBC, NOVA community collge and George Mason University.

    2. What influences/influenced your choice of major?
I want a major in computer animation. I chose this major because since i was little a wanted to mess around with computers.

    3. Also, what influences/influenced your choice of college?
Well, i don't really care if the uni or college of my choice has a good reputation as long as they have the classes that i want am kool with it.

    4. Have you taken the SAT/ACT/TOEFL/IELTS/other required external exam?
I haven't taken any of those yet. I will take the SAT in January 2007.

    5. Anything else that's relevant (ask questions, give advice, etc)
Well, choose the college or University that you want to attend, but if you are not sure which school to attend don't apply for early decision because is not a good idea if you are unsure about what school to attend.

    1. What & where do/did you intend to study?

I have only recently started researching what I really wanted to do in college, and I came up with the choices of Sciences and Maths, even though my actual passions lie elsewhere. However, Physics seemed really interesting, and majoring in Science can open up a lot of opportunities to me that I enjoy doing. I prefer doing jobs similar to labwork really..... nothing hands-on. Something that does not require physical labor is my thing XD

Psychology and Philosophy were two other options that I looked into.... but.... the job prospects didnt really look good.... they might do well for hobbies though, so Im keeping the idea at the back of my mind, just in case.

    2. What influences/influenced your choice of major?

Well, the main influence is my schoolwork and skill, I guess. Im doing really well in my Maths and Science related courses, so that was my main focus. The careers advisor is the one that suggested for me to major in Science, judging from my results. Apart from that, the choice was completely my own.

    3. Also, what influences/influenced your choice of college?

I haven't really chosen a college to go to..... the first choice of course is the Auckland Uni here, since it's the closest and most convenient. I kind of prefer it here rather than try to get into places such as America and Singapore etc because it's rather quiet. I don't really like going with the flow... most of the time. But Im still thinking, researching, and getting advice.

    4. Have you taken the SAT/ACT/TOEFL/IELTS/other required external exam?

Umm, Im not entirely sure about that.... going to college is still quite a long way for me, so I would assume I have no need of those tests yet.

    Re: Education Abroad

What you end up doing may be a far cry from what you want to do now. In 7th grade I wanted to be a cardiologist, in 9th I wanted to be a radiologist, in 10th I found that I liked Physics and was good at it so I decided I wanted to be a mechatronic engineer, and now in 12th I'm applying to go to film school. My, my, my. It's good to start thinking early, though. At least you still have time to change your mind. If I'd decided LATER that I wanted to go into mechatronics, I may not have switched to film. I only started seriously thinking about college sometime in 11th grade. Before that I was like everyone else, dreaming about going to Cambridge to study medicine.

Well to explain myself better, I was educated by the American public school system, which is another word for Junvenile Hall for kids that want to learn. Uniforms, set schedules, lack of budget, lack of intelligent people, etc way too much to list.

In college, I get to set my own schedule of when i get to wake up, the facilities are great, and you don't have to be stuck with losers of the society. Everyone there wants to be successful or at least try to be, so it's fun you get a mix of people. Different cultures, different ages, and no elitism (well some) everyone is friendly and professional.

    Re: Education Abroad

I'm definitely going to enjoy the freedom once I'm in college overseas. All that exposure and experience! All those opportunities! But I'm not going to enjoy being to spend as much as I can back home. Along with living by yourself overseas comes plenty of responsibilities, and tight monthly budgets (where my family is concerned).

    1. Well i am studying here in the UK, in Devon (under wales). Although i really wanted to study at University of Sussex as it was the best place to study for Dance but i didn't really badly in my requirements and didn't get in.

Although, i would love to go into teaching and perhaps look for places either in the UK or in the states that do teacing courses for dance.

    2. After doing a GSCE here in Britian on Dance and got a B with the highest choreography mark in my class i got really into my dancing and doing ballet all my life gave me the nudge i needed to fulfil my dream.

    3. For my choice of college I am going to it was the only college that did a course all about Choreography and its something i am really interested in and my main aread of study as its my major.

    4. I had to audition to get into the college to see if my skills were ok. and on my Audition i was asked if i was able to join because i had to wait ages to be told i couldn't get into my main choice i had to then apply for late entry into my college and got offered a place after my audition.

    5. for all of those who are in Britian and want to make sure they have a place to study..when you are still waiting to hear if you have been accepted to your university after results day..still have a look at other Unis that still have places through clearing!!
