Re: Ever feel like you were born in the wrong century?

I dunno 'bout the wrong century, but I feel that I was born in the wrong decade. I feel that I should've been born in the late 40s, early 50s; 'cause that's how I was raised. I respect my elders, hold doors open (and allow ta go first) ladies, and honor my parents. I was raised ta always be a gentleman, which is why many of my friends thought I was weird. However if I could take some of the tech from todays era wit me, I would. I've grown accustomed ta it and although I can live without it, it sure does make life easier.

Sanity doesn't exist, it's just an excuse cooked up by crazy people to justify their actions. My myspace page: www.myspace.com/joemage

Re: Ever feel like you were born in the wrong century?

Except for my love fr my computer I'd have to say I was born in the totally wrong Time. Just not century. I like my country. Just not my government. IT's crap. But at any rate I think I was supposed to be born in the fifties. When it was okay to want to be a house wife and raise children insted of have a career. Cause that's what I've always wanted t do.I've never wanted to be a doctor or a movie star or famous or rich. I wanted to be someones wife and someones mother. And that's the extent of it. Until I was fifteen everyone who asked me what I want to be when I grow up my answer was "A mommy" And that was it. I have...no discernible talents or strengths that could be turned into a career. I'm smart, to a fault even. But not in any particularly marketible way. Just slightly above average.

Well how about this, you say that you wish you had a hover car right.
did you know that the first two seater flying saucer went into production not to long ago?
it hovers at 10 feet and has a speed of 80 mph, so its not long before you are in the right century.

I'm in with Joe and Bratling, my mind set has always been rather old worldish...the opening of doors for the ladies and such, respecting elders, i guess half of it is how i was raised...i long for the simpler days of swing and the big band era, the golden age of the automobile and dawn of flight. just leave out the great depression and im just peachy. but im here and untill i can finish a time machine im stuck...

the dark ages does have this dark but intriguing touch, ... although there was a lot of un savory things going on at the time, hence the disease's... but i can see you why you would want to, my sis was meant to live back in those days, i swear.

Of course, I feel like I was born in the wrong century. Then again, I can't imagine when I would be born. One day I discover the word "groovy" . . . the next I'll have the uncontrollable urge to wear coattails and a top hat . . . or a tunic and weild a staff. I don't know when, but I know not now!

Re: Ever feel like you were born in the wrong century?

I have felt that way before, not because of technology, or music, or anything like that, but because of the ideas, and thoughts of nowadays, or at least where I live. No one understands words like honor, or pride, or dignity, things like they once use to. I don’t know where I would live, because theses things use to be upheld and understood in the past at different times and places, but I would think that it would be the time of knights, or samurai or basically a time with a group of people that upheld these things, and did things based on theses beliefs. Definitely before the time of guns though.

By the way, this topic is reminds me so much of my mum, it’s amazing, I mean almost every day she goes on about something like this, remembering past lives, or just wishing to live back then, or this exact topic of having been born in the wrong time.

Re: Ever feel like you were born in the wrong century?

I'm not really sure what time I would prefer to have been born in .. I guess I would have liked ancient egypt where women were treated with respect(well more than any other time except now) and allowed to own land
at least they didnt to worry about nueclear(spelled wrong?) bombs and S.T.D.s (or at least no to the extent that we havve now-a-days)
