there isn't any hacking is bad and and holds nothing but troubles
2)) Why do people engage in such activities? What are the causes of these incidents?
For the same reason a gang goes and vandalises a store/home. To show people that they have the power to do that and more.
3)) What kind of people are often targeted and how are they usually lured in?
Anyone can be a target it's just a matter of time before you get hacked.

have as many fire walls as possible![]()

A load of problems and a messed up computer/life

Hey don't bang all hackers some make funny vids we watch from hacks gone wrong.
shadows what are they.
To answer your questions:
1: there are no positive effects of hacking. But there are lots of negative effects.
2: For sport probably.
3: Anyone is a target to a hacker. It doesn't matter how much experience you have on the net.
4: Firewalls or Ad-Aware.
5: Aftereffects are that you have important files missing, such as bank account numbers or passwords, ID theft, passwords changed, etc. Those are a few effects that i could think of..........
In short: Hackers are just people who are not satisfied with working their own computers.

My Answers:
1)) Positives: (for hackers)
> you get to have certain information and anything you like.
> it's fun... (for past time... and the likes)
> it can land you a job even if you are caught. ^_^ yeah... like in Microsoft.
the Negatives are for the 'hacked'. they lose necessary data, their privacy's invaded, et cetera... i believe there's no benefit for the hacked... u.u
2)) Recognition. or some terrible need that requires hacking on people's accounts. or just like i've said, for past time, and got nothing to do with their amazing computer skills. v.v
3)) the people who are new to computers, especially the ones who aren't that familiar with the net... ^^ they are obviously easy prey to their spywares, they send in virus through SPAM in emails, annoying pop-ups, and the likes... ^-^
4)) strengthen your Anti Virus software... BUY them, you cannot really rely on just free ones... ^-^ if you're willing to sacrifice performance for safety, then boost up your firewall... ^_^
5)) information loss, deleted accounts, mushed up computers, good for nothing harddrives, et cetera... basically a computer geek's nightmare. X___x

funny, i know someone who's a hacker... though he's not the BIG TIME hacker. he can hack through accounts... is all... XD still creepy though. >~< he may read my email messages anytime he wants. >.<
