There's another article, detailing his life as his sleepless nights began, he chose to continue his addiction to those pills over his girlfriend and two year old daughter. He knowingly put himself at risk to continue his dedication to his roles and his acting career. He was truely a man who put effort into his acting, but it ultimately cost him, as nobody is invincible.

hummm this is controversial though... cuz according to these two links he "killed" himself rather that an accidental overdose... what I think is that he got too sucked in the role of the Joker and he took it way serious. I will give it the benefit of the doubt and still maintain that it was an accident caused by the overload of work that the role of the Joker meant to him... this I will sustain until I find something different that really convices me...

Heath Ledger was great in Brokeback Mountain but didn't get the recognition he deserved, well actually the movie itself didn't get the recognition it deserved based solely on the fact that it's about gays. And society, at least the American society has yet to accept the idea of "being gay". So, since "the majority" of people aren't all cookies n' cream with the idea of homosexuality everyone chooses to ignore any project conceived with the very idea of GAY.

He's a great actor, and it's a shame he died. But his last movie was one of his best, if not THE best of his work. So, I mean what better way to leave than with a BANG?

He's the man. And he deserves that Oscar, dead or alive.

I occur, a post-humous Oscar would be most fitting.
