Wow, sorry to hear that. And I agree, I hate hospitals...
Well, my cousin got stuck in a Hospital for a godforsaken two weeks, just because he got really sick, and we didn't even get informed on what he had until a week into his hospitalization. So, yeah. And I just generaly hate hospitals, never liked em, never will. It's because when I was little, I was in a hospital most of my life because of my kidneys, so yeah.

But.. but... I like the food. No, seriously. It beats cooking for yourself when you feel awful.
I used to hate hospitals but since I have been forced to know them better I've found whether it's a good experience or bad depends entirely on the employees.
Best of luck with your father. I've had a few family go in for serious stuff and it can be rough. Better he come home a few days later then they send him home too early.

Hospitals are fine, they make wonderful jello and always have lots of sprite. Their cafeterias usually have specials and stuff, there's restaurants around most of the hospitals here too. Mostly just McD's and Subways.
You think the stay at the hospital is bad? The wait is worse, same with their phone lines. My cousin started getting the symptoms of West Nile two-three years back, my aunt didn't want to overreact and scare her so she just phones the hospital help line. It was Sunday and the operator was like 'Oh, we can't help you.. our specialist isn't here on the weekends.' About the waiting room thing, you can go to the hospital, bleeding even, but still end up waiting two hours.
Depends which hospital you go to also. If it's around one of retirement hot spots then the night might be rough 'cause all the emergencies.
Though no one ever gets stuck in the hospital for days without anyone being notified, I've actually never heard of anyone being incarcerated within the white walls..
the love you withhold is the pain you carry.
Oh come on, hospitals are life savers. Sure, you can complain about the food and the smell and the bacteria and the plain walls (I complained a bit during my short hospitalization for food poisoning when I was about four years old, but kids complain all the time so no one really paid attention), but think about how many lives are saved because of these facilities. Be thankful that a hospital exists, because in many parts of the world, they don't.
Wouldn't you rather have him stay back a few days and be sure that he's safe, than have him come home a few days earlier and risk his health? I'd much rather my father stay back a few days, just to be sure that he's healthy, and safe to go home.
Diagnosis of particular illnesses can take much longer than a week. It's better that they take a week and are accurate with their diagnosis, than take a day and wrongfully diagnose your cousin with another illness.
I find it hard to eat inside a hospital. Unless I'm a patient and I have to eat the food they serve, I wouldn't eat anything. I do remember having some jelly though. It was sealed and everything so that was a bit of a reassurance.
